Do you know what makes you?  I think about what makes me.

Step one parents whom haven't had to divorce, this has made it easier for me to keep them as a constant in my life and not have to focus on it all.  But they are good people, and by that I mean religious so I did have a big love affair with jesus before I knew how to radically question things.  It was a more innocent time, it could very well parallel the history of man for all I know.  I was brought into Roman Catholicism, no catholic school like my father, I went to public school.  It is a special club, just like this site and that trendy bar and everything.  So I used my cunning to protect my fragile brain in that little club for as long as i could stand, BUT a flaw so big had to be uncovered to sink the heavenly ship.  Most religion worth its salt tries to prescribe everything, and therefore contends to know everything, finite simple.  As soon as they are questionable by another set of criteria i.e. the scientific method, the whole thing turns into a pointing match, futile at best.

It is possible some say to deconstruct all the way down to meta-physics which is essentially the philsophy of intent before creation, even that is circuitous and hilariously mind bending.

A most appropriate model of who I am, of who people might be should involve a glance at the periods of history.  We hopefully change in life and improve, so what would be a better models than the periods of great intellectual thought, bloody war, or depressing famine, etc. to show the impetus for action or change within ourselves?  Granted "our" change is often in direct relation to the "change" in the man in power over us.  I don't mean for you to resign your lives over to history, rather to suggest that you are part of what is fleeting fast into history.  Most of all you only have control over yourself, and you can have a war or sexual revolution at your own behest.

The powers that exist today are strengthened by the lack of pervasive thought amongst a rather contented lot of voters.

A boot camp is a "total institution" in that it deconstructs the recruits in order to shape them into complient weapons.  I suggest that everyone deconstruct themselves at least a little bit and find out which periods of history you find calling.
