Shared on Wed, 03/11/2009 - 13:02Just a thought I had, and I was hoping to bounce it off the rest of community for ideas.....
I was inspired by Caesar's Job Posting thread in the off-topic forum, and I really hope that at least one site user has benefitted from one of the postings there (even though nobody responded to my ad for a web designer.... where are you starving artists at??)
From reading through the blogs it appears that our members represent a very broad spectrum of work... we have everything from doctors and accountants to tattoo artists and beer suppliers (speaking of which, if you haven't checked out IAmTheLiquor's blog it's very entertaining). I was thinking of a Yellow Pages database (even if it's just a thread or blog or something) where the individual members can make their services known to other members. I would certainly look for a 2old2play member for, say, web design before bidding out to other companies, and I would hope that other members who need pre-employment investigations would call me before one of my competitors.
I realize there is a certain level of "work vs. play" distinction we like to keep here, and I don't want to turn members against each other simply because they are competing for business. At the same time this could help especially the smaller businesses who have a great product or service and limited marketing capabilities. Tell me what you like, and what sucks, and if it works I'd like to run it by a moderator. I would be very willing to manage/maintain the system.
