I'm retracting some of my forum statements about MW2 on the PC. While dedicated servers are great, the matchmaking feature does a terrific job at pitting me against equal players on equal teams. I can't exactly complain because I've been having a lot of fun playing against Timmies - one advantage of PC multiplayer is that not as many people use the mic as on XBL. Kind of kills the teamwork aspect, but I haven't been called n*gger, c*nt, f*ggot, or any variation thereof yet.
So tonight I played a game and didn't do too well. Next match goes into the Sub Base map. I see a member of the other team approaching so I take cover behind a storage container, come out on the other side and blast him in the head. Two more teammates come running past the storage container - one grenade, a few more bullets, reload and take out the guy coming from the other direction and I'm on a four-kill streak (read my first line - I've historically sucked at online gaming, so this is big for me).
One of the recently deceased saw me on kill cam and knows where I am, so he takes me out with an RPG. Upon respawning I killed him right away and all is well. I'm in my groove. Then....
It's the wife. She works part time and this was her break. I picked up the phone while trying to continue killing Timmies but my groove was gone. She needed me to look something up online for her so I had to shut off the game. The 4-kill streak was gone. The excitement was gone.
I've learned a lesson tonight - killing 13-year-olds is far more exciting than a 15 minute conversation with one's wife.
