Entitlement and gaming follow-up

Two quick notes for today... As the director of sales and marketing, I do a number of conferences for my company as an exhibitor. One sure-fire way of bringing people to my company's booth is an awesome door prize. In March of this year, I gave away an HP Mini netbook. Gave the winner my business card and told her to contact me if she needs anything (as in my company's services). The last couple days, she has had a problem in which the netbook's battery won't hold a charge and she can only use it while it's plugged in. She emailed me asking for support, and I referred her to the HP support phone line to get warranty information. The netbook was written off as a business expense, and I don't think the receipt was ever filed, so I figure calling HP and offering the serial number is the best way for her to fix the problem (I have an HP laptop, and they've never asked for my receipt).

She sends me an email back this afternoon after I sent the phone number for HP: "I am not calling HP, I emailed you because you gave me your business card and told me to call if you needed anything." Lady....... it's a free fucking laptop. Call HP. My company provides investigative services, not laptop warranty support. Call HP, you entitled twat.

Just venting.

On another note, I took your suggestions after my last blog. Rented Mafia 2 and I'm glad I did - the game is really, really good but it definitely doesn't have the long-term playability that I would normally expect from a sandbox game. I rented it on Friday and played through what I imagine is most of the single player mission over the weekend. Then I ended up using part of the Visa gift card to take advantage of another opportunity............

Through some connections, I had a chance to grab Dead Rising 2 two days early. And HO-LEE SHIT, what a great game. I only got a chance to start playing tonight, and I'm already convinced it's far superior to the first game. Granted, I'm less than a third of the way into the storyline, however the story itself is way more gripping and the ability to combine weapons gives it an interesting dynamic. Didn't think it's possible, but it's way more gory than the original - and there's not much more satisfying than racking up ridiculous amounts of points planting a nail-covered baseball bat into the skulls of dozens of zombies.

Anyway, I thank you for your suggestions because given my limited gaming time I'm confident I made the right choice. And I'm really looking forward to trying out the co-op version of the game................ who's in?

ok - so lady wins a laptop and then expects you to provide tech support for it? It doesn't sound like you're working on behalf of HP, so I deem your vent appropriate, and give her a WTF for stupidity. Suck it up lady, laptop batteries are the biggest risk with portable computing. I plan on picking up DR2 soonish. Still have Mafia II from gamefly, but haven't played it in a while.
