I log in to pay my loan online last night, like I have done on time every month for the last 5 years. I have two mortgages through them - one was there (the smaller loan) but my primary one was not listed and I had no way to pay it.
After calling the mortgage department this morning, being transferred to the online banking department and then back to a three-way call with the mortgage department (including roughly 30 minutes of being on hold) I am told they aren't servicing the loan anymore. They sold it off to some other bank I never heard of. No advance notice, no letter from the new bank saying "Hi! We look forward to receiving the hundred thousand dollars you now owe us!", not even a text message.
I called the other bank and was put on hold. That was 20 minutes ago. Based on the long hold times, I'm willing to bet there are thousands more people in the same situation I'm in.

10:50 AM UPDATE:
I got somebody on the phone at M&T. It appears that B of A is telling their customers that they've been selling these loans off, but in fact M&T has only been hired to service the loans. I was able to make my payment like any other online payment.
I'm not changing the title of my blog, though. This isn't the first time Bank of America has made unnecessary changes to my loans, and they still really need to notify their customers when they do things like this.
