I can understand this country's addiction with celebrity. Chalk it up to bored housewives and fat divorcees living vicariously through the tabloid lives of pretty people who date studs and party with rappers. That's fine and I even find myself peeking at the covers of those tabloids while standing in line at Wal-Mart.
However I've been very perplexed since I was 12 about one in particular, and I'm even more confused now than I was then.
Tori. Fucking. Spelling.
A-Lister? Nope.
Attractive? Subjective but I think the general consensus will point to NO!
Married to somebody important? Nope.
A positive role model? Not quite, she's commonly referred to as a homewrecker as her marriage started with an affair that left a couple kids without a daddy.
Yes, her father was Aaron Spelling. Well, last I heard, he hasn't been very involved in the industry in a couple years and even before he died wasn't Tori estranged from the rest of the family anyway?
But for some reason the tabloids, TV and radio news stations, seem to be fixated on the fact that she just had a kid. There are a few members on this site who have had kids recently. I'd much rather see their Xbox 360-playing asses in the tabloids than this Hollywood white trash. She still gets acting jobs; granted, they're Lifetime original movies, but there are lots of other hopeful Hollywood cuties who would blow 10 producers for those same parts. She even has her own reality TV show.
They say that if you put it on TV, somebody will watch it. And I am sure there are at least a couple of people who watch her stupid show simply because it's on. But my question is at the root of all of it. Who decided that of all the people in Hollywood with famous dead fathers, that she should have her own show. Who keeps giving her roles when, let's face it, she's commonly referred to as a joke?
I really don't get it. WTF am I missing here?
