Shared on Thu, 07/23/2009 - 14:11I've picked up my controller after more than a year of rarely playing and not buying anything after CoD 4. I've been busy. I finished my language class last July, took a short vacation, then I and the family boarded a plane for Dubai, United Arab Emirates. There is a lot I can say about Dubai, and I will later, but for now I'll leave it at Dubai is over the top. When you build ski slopes in the desert, then you'll try anything.
We've moved, dealt with Internet outages, Xbox power cords lost in transit, finding new houses, starting a new job (and for the children starting a new school) and adjusting to a new home in a place that is simultaneously familiar and foreign. These last two are so intertwined, but contradictory, that it takes a lot longer to get adjusted. Things are never quite what they seem on appearance.
Finally, we got settled, and I got the mancave squared away, except for my Pyramat gaming chair that mysteriously vanished once the movers packed it. Now, I've finally got the time to get back to gaming, and there's a ton of games I've got to get to. I'm barely a quarter way through GTA IV, nearly finished GoW2 (and what's up with the multiplayer and the endless waits in the lobby?), still stuck in the early stages of Dead Rising, and have unopened copies of Bioshock, Mass Effect, Fallout 3 and The Bourne Conspiracy waiting. I'll play a little on the weekends because there is never any time during the week and now social networking, Facebook and less so Twitter, have distracted me. There's even less time once I get through those two during the day. And if you're interested, I'm on both as ThatcatTim, as in "They say that cat Tim is a bad mutha . . .."
But most of those distractions are behind me now, and we're settled, so it's back to gaming. Things are looking up.
