ok so after reading Jeeps blog, and now writing out my check for 67.50 for junior high for my daughter  I have a rather odd question,

WHAT happened to FREE Education?  Don't I pay a ridiculous amount of taxes for school ?

Locker fee, book rental fee, lab fee, home ec fee, computer fee... the list goes on.

Now listen I understand Teachers are under paid, and they at times have to purchase supplies for the class to which I say give them raises, Help out!!  I dont mind buying supplies but JR high "fees" do not go to the teachers at all. for my third grader  I buy the costco size tissues for extras... the mega size hand sanitizer, enough markers to choke a horse, all that stuff because I do know they need the classroom support.

Than I get the famed " list of items needed "  from all 7 classes thats another 40 dollars easy.  Than the tween clothes shopping oh JOY! Why is school more stress on ME than it is on her? lol   Oh and the kicker is im like .002  mile short of a bus pick up so now i get to drive her,  so that means A whole lot of fighting in the am, waking my  lil one up early to drive with me, and the 8yo will have to come to because the nosey bich ass moms that live here would call the police if they didn't see her in the car lol. So  I call the school district and said,

HEY listen how about my daughter walk that half a block and meets up with the bus, and we'll call it good!  I apprently  got the one lady on her period with no humor or like for her job to explain to me every god damn rules and regulations the transportation dept had. NEEDLESS to say .. its a NO GO on the bus :) If i could tolerate the other kids/moms i would join the car pool but im thinking Ill take the hit and drive her my self to avoid them lol God home schooling is looking better and better.... oh wait...I can't do math thats why I went into social work lol  School it is! ..

My next plan.............................SCHOOL UNIFORMS!!!!!!

At one point after doling out about $20 every other week for this or that fundraiser, I stopped sending money in. I got a call from my kid's teacher - she started off kinda nasty, trying to lay a guilt trip. I told her simply that I didn't have money to give him for all these PTA fundraisers and extra classroom things. She let out a big "OH!" then offered to put me on the assistance list. Apparently, those on the assistance list get all those things paid for by the State, including school supplies. I work for the school, I couldn't lie and get on the list - but I made sure she understood that I could give two craps if the PTA had enough mone to throw a Holiday ball for the 5th graders - my kid was in 1st grade - he needed to focus on reading and writing and math - not how to scrounge up $20 for some other's people's kids. Rant over. LOL Man I don't want to go back to the MALL! I can't imagine a tweenager. and yes, I agree, Home Schooling is looking better and better.

oh I fixed that a few years ago. I send a 40$ check to the school with a note stating my child will not participate in any gift wrap, cookie dough , beef jerky ((yes)) jerky, or any fundraiser of its type. Consider this my "donation" for the year! they im sure call me a cheap ass bich and don't bother me all year!

I know you won't be surprised, because I agree with you 100%. Now, you're the client in this case. Imagine what it's like being an employee. I can't say much more, except instead of homeschooling, which is a lot of work, I know you well enough to know that going to a school board meeting to address these things is something you can do. Go to the PTO meetings. Get to know who you are dealing with. In Jeep's case, working for the system, she is limited in what she can say. But if you do say, "I cannot and will not spend another penny!" . . .What's the worst that can happen? If they offer assistance, take it.

OHHH texas you know me!!!!! the whole damn county knows me.. lol I have been offered the ""ASSistance" to which i state maybe if we stopped offering to people who can afford the fees but you just want to placated, and actually give it to the people who truly need it, maybe we would not be in the position we're in. :) they love me! I dont need for someone to pay it for me. but to eliminate it by using taxes to pay for fees, And us parents buy classroom supplies. easy enough right lmfao

Wow, that's nuts that they wont get your kid on the bus. I live over 15 miles out of town and the bus comes down my road just to pick up my daughter. I guess I'm lucky it's a small ass town lol When I went to Hell-Mart (Wal) a week ago my daughter brings me a supplies list and it was so short. I was like hell yeah, so we got everything on the list and then when we get home I notice it's not her school list but it's the list for an even smaller school. So I get to go back and spend a whopping $20-$30 more for the rest of her stuff. Yay! lol
