Ghost Recon beta final review

So the beta is over.  What do I think of it?

Pros: Have to play as a team.  You need a good mix of each class.  It isn't CoD paced but it isn't GRAW paced.  The pace of the game is more like Rainbow 6.
The upgrade system is cool.  When you max out one of your characters you get to choose from weapons the other faction can use.  you also unlock another character slot of the same time.  So if you max out an engineer you unlock another engineer slot.  This allows you to progress that character slot in a different manner.  As you rank up there are a couple of choices you have to make.  Like for engineer your first choice is between field computer and UAV.  This way you can build up a character with the other choices.  Make one that is good for recon, the other good at hacking.  The scoring system is based on team activities, not kills.  Like a kill on someone marked up by a data hack is 2 points.  Taking down a drone is a point.  This did make for some interesitng strategies.  Like if our team was way ahead we would take the bomb to some place that was easy to defend.  In order for the other team to win they would have to plant the bomb.  This way we maxed out the match time to get the max XP.

The cons: Can split the party.  One map in the beta was unbalanced.  Host migration completely resets the map (but not the scores).

I have been running with PPC/Maggie's Drawers.  Tortue77 and I tend to be the engineers of our group.  The game is 6v6.  Event though both Torture and I would be manning the drones our team would still end up winning most of the time.  With two drones we could cover a large area of the map.  We could pretty much keep the entire other team marked up so there was very little in surprises.  On the small map we only needed one engineer which was usually me.  But once I unlocked hte sentry turret Torture went drone and I went sentry for that small map.  Then once Tortue unlocked the sentry we did both on the big map when the other team had the bomb and we put up a good defense on the drop off area.

I did play a little bit as the rifleman.  Typical grunt/front line work.  The scout class is interesting.  When you stop you get active camo.  It is possible to upgrade your camo to be on all the time except for when you shoot.  This was tough if one of these scouts picked up the bomb, you wouldn't know where the bomb is.  When manning a UAV (which is heat based video) all you would see is the scout's breath but you couldn't mark them up.  So you have to communicate with the team where the scout it at.

What I would do sometime against these invisible scouts when they were protecting an area is fly my drone right in front of their face, get their attention, and if they took the bait and followed my drone another teammate would sneak up behind and kill him.

I have some Best Buy reward points so to spend, I will be getting this game.

I gave the beta a second chance and really liked it. I will repeat though Poonga,I will not be on the opposite team of you when the game comes out. I tend not to use the "toys" and you were a huge help with that drone when I played. The pace does seem fine, but the lobby stuff needs tweaking.
