so... driving home on Sunday afternoon and passing a verizon store. Wife says... "want to go get new phones?"  I've been complaining about hating mine for the past year. I says "Hell yeah". So, an hour and a half later, we are driving home (again) but this time with new Blackberry's in our pockets. We went with the buy one get one free gimick. Not a bad phone. Has some oddities, but it is pretty good for getting email and pretty much serving as a mini computer out on the road. Would have gone with a google phone, but I don't think the platform is all there yet, and i like having an actual keyboard... That being said, I'm glad I don't have big fingers. I cannot imagine people that have big paws or long fingernails. How in the world do they text?

I am a little disappointed that so many of the apps on the blackberry are so limited in their function. The SMS reader? it stinks compared to others i've used. You would think when you pay that much for a phone that the base applications would work pretty well.

We've got 30 days to try them before we have to make a final decision on whether to keep them. If I don't figure out how to get some of this stuff working well, I may switch over to the Droid Eris.

Go with a droid phone. You will not regret it. I have the T-Mobile mytouch and don't regret getting it. The android platform is "almost " as good as the iPhone without the AT&T bullshit. The keyboard thing is a bit on the annoying side but if you absolutely have to have an actual keyboard the motorola droid has a slide out board.

I'm happy with my crackberry from Verizon, I really love the Blackberry messanger...but the web browser could use some work.

I hate my blackberry...if it weren't for the wifi application that allows me to get free minutes when connected to a wifi...I would have taken the phone back before the 30 days. I hate this phone. It freezes ALL THE TIME, turns itself off for no apparent reason. I probably have to pull the battery out and restart about twice a day. And, this is the second phone...I already turned one in for defects...ugh Good luck!

Hmmm.... making me rethink my purchase. I have a few more days before I am stuck with it for a couple years.
