I finally managed to save up 5,200 Gold in WoW, and picked up a Swift Red Windrider for Verbatim. Sweet Jesus, that thing is fast! The 'normal' flying mount travels 60% faster than your regular running pace, while the 'swift' flying mount travels at 280% faster. That's not a typo - my new flying mount moves almost three times as fast in the air as I do on foot unmounted.

I struggled for a while deciding if I should spend the money getting the mount for Verbatim, or starting on the quest chain to get Tornik his Swift Flight Form - Tornik, being a Druid, has the ability to shapeshift into a Bird, meaning he has no need for an actual flying mount - but getting the Swift Flight form isn't as simple as just doing a few quests. It requires running the Sethekk Halls instance on Heroic difficulty, to kill a certain boss there. Now, considering that Tornik doesn't have the  ability to get into the Heroic version of Sethekk Halls, it would require me trudging through Pick-up Group Hell several times before I had the ability to try the Heroic version of the instance. As I've mentioned in the past, I prefer to play solo anyway, so this option didn't appeal to me, although I do feel bad that Tornik, being my first character, doesn't get first dibs on the swift flight action. Still, he's a big boy, he can handle it. I console myself with the thought that with Verbatim's Swift Windrider, I can (in theory) grind up more cash quicker, so I'll get round to saving up another 5000 gold eventually.

Also, dragged my paints out yesterday afternoon and re-undercoated the batch of Plague Marines I've had sitting on my desk for a month or two now - I'll be painting them up over the next few days, while I plan out my next steps in WoW. With the buffs to low-level experience with patch 2.3, it might be time now to dust off my level 9 Female Human Mage and finally experience the game from an Alliance point of view.
