Escaping Your Past

Is it possible to escape your past?

I begin to wonder, because I seem to be unable to rid myself of my memories of my parents. The chequered history I have with them leaves me wishing that there was some way I could scrape all memopries of them from my brain, so that I can watch an epsiode of Star Trek, for example, without remembering all the idiotic theories my father has about the series.

I don't rate my chances, tbh, and I'm pretty much convinced that I'll be stuck hauling around a bucket-load of emotional and psychological baggage for the rest of my life.

The morning after

Things went well. Very well indeed.

Due to the typical vagaries of the Scottish rail system Davie was held up, so I got in first. Plenty of time for a pint to calm my nerves. Once he arrived, we grabbed a pool table and relaxed with some more drinks while I was repeatedly, resoundingly beaten at pool. Just like old times.

Blast from the past

So, on Friday night, I got a random call from an old friend of mine, Davie, who I haven't seen in nearly ten years.

To say that we grew up together would be overstating things slightly, but I was very close to him and his brother Colin, for several years. We started to drift apart, the way so many friends do some time after I turned twenty, and by the time I moved out of my home town we had pretty much drifted apart completely.

Proper Good News

Finally, some proper good news.

I have received an official offer from my employer, offering me a good settlement and a severance date of the 31st of March. That's two weeks on Wednesday.

I always had planned on going to Uni, regardless, but this will make things so much easier for us. Having now been discharged from Bankruptcy, the offer comes at the perfect time.

Gargle blargle

I hate how I've been feeling about my work lately. I've got a real love/hate thing going on just now.

I've been off sick, yesterday and today, some kind of cold-thing I think. My head feels the standard cotton-wool way, and I've got aches and pains and dizzyness. Unless I sit down for a half na hour or so, at which point I start to feel okay. Then I forget, stand up to quick, and nearly walk into a doorway.
