A bit of a slow/quiet weekend. My girlfriend and I had our first shared, full day off in a fortnight on Saturday, but were unable to take advantage of it like we planned due to us not having any money :( This left us somewhat ticked off, but we survived, as it's becoming a more and more common occurrence of late. I can't even remember what it was we did now - I guess it can't have been too exciting. Although, we did start drinking early on, and I got into quite a state, and ended up having to make myself sick before I could lie down without the room spinning.

Yesterday my girfriend was working, so I spent the day mooching about the house feeling hungover and sorry for myself, didn't even play WoW. For my birthday I got the Bladerunner Final Cut box set, so I spent a few hours watching the 'Making Of' part of it - at 3.5 hours long, I've still got some of it to go. Later on I ordered up my new PSU, a Corsair Memory 550Watt - it should do the job nicely.

We sat and had a bit of a talk later on, as we were both feeling pretty low. This kind of thing comes in waves, we go through phases of not being too bothered about the bankruptcy and just getting on with it, to feeling seriously depressed and low about it. I suppose it's kind of a habit in our society to try to pass blame off to someone else if you're not happy with your lot in life, but we can't do that - the only people to blame for our situation is ourselves. The best we can do is suck it up and get on with it.

I truly believe that quite a few other couple's relationships wouldn't have survived this kind of thing - the blame, recrimination and hindsight that tends to get thrown around in a situation like this could easily spell the end for a lot of people, but I think that it's actually brought us a little closer together. So, above all else, we have each other to be thankful for, and we still  have a roof over our heads - a hell of a lot of other people do not.

We visited my mum and dad for dinner last night, and I finally got my birthday money off of her, I have decided to treat myself to a couple of books - the new 'Thomas Covenant' book by Stephen Donaldson, and 'The Zombie Survival Guide' by Max Brooks - I've spoken at length about his book 'World War Z' in the past, so suffice it to say that I've been meaning to grab the 'Guide' for a while now - looking forward to it dropping through the door.

Finally, I'm struggling to get a good start going on a new column for Massively - hopefully the next few days will be slow at work, so I can get something decent down. Assuming all goes well with my new PSU, God knows I'm not likely to be doing anything at home but play games :)
