Shared on Tue, 06/05/2007 - 04:48So, last night I told my guild that I'd be unavailable for a while due to getting Otis - I mentioned that was our new cat's name, didn't I?
Anyway, there wasn't too much of a reaction from the guild, but that's pretty much what I expected - I'm hardly an integral part of the community, not being an active raider yet. I won't lie and deny that I wouldn't have been tickled pink if people were lineing up to beg me to stay, but I'm not deluded enough to have been expecting it, so no harm done.
Besides, the guild went through some major restructuring over the weekend there, with the officer system being completely overhauled, and the GM standing down and handing the leadership over to someone else. Both point are, in my opinion, overdue - the ex-GM left the UK to return home to Canada quite a while back, and the time difference has meant that he's not been around as much as he should be.
So - I think that I'll end up respecing Verbatim back to a Shadow build, so that the few times I do manage to get online, I'll be able to do some solo action with him. Don't get me wrong, I won't be on with him for quite some time, and by the time I do get back into playing on a regular basis with either Verbatim or Tornik, the chances are that the guild will have progressed far ahead of where they are just now. I'm alreeady lagging a fair bit behind them, so it's only going to get worse.
I had been thinking about the various professions that Verbatim and Tornik are using just now. Tornik's a Skinner and Leatherworker, and Verbatim is a Herbalist/Tailor. Verbatim was a Herbalist/Alchemist to start with, but I picked up Tailoring back in the mists of time to craft gear for myself and my girlfriend, who was playing at that time. I've been mulling the prospect of grabbing Alchemy again on one of them, but I haven't quite taken the plunge yet. There's money to be made from both Leatherworking and Tailoring at the moment. In the future, I think it's more likely that Verbatim will be the one who gets back in to Raiding, with Tornik just running around doing his own thing. There are some pretty good rewards from the Consortium faction for Tornik, some Leatherworking recipes that he can use to make some pretty decent gear for himself. At the moment, I think i'll keep him a Skinner/Leatherworker until he grabs the designs for the Fel Leather Boots, the Fel Leather Gloves and the Fel Leather Leggings. I'll craft one each for him, and maybe a few to flog on the Auction House, and then I'll probably change his professions to gathering ones, to supply Verbatim or for the AH again.
A guildie posted some links on our forum; guides to power level various professions, I'll link them below. I'm only familiar with Skinning, Leatherworking, Herbalism, Tailoring and Alchemy (and only a little bit), but they all look pretty good to my eyes.
