Shared on Tue, 05/06/2008 - 05:19God - this may be the most domsitcated blog post I've ever written.
So, we've ordered our replacement laminate flooring and carpet. We went out on Saturday to scout out some stuff we like the look of and that seemed to fit the budget thesoul-sucking demon spawn insurance company gave us. Having found that, we measured the house and out together a quick estimate ourselves, that looked good.
We went back out on Sunday and arranged a fitting, which was yesterday, and everything came in pretty much on budget, so our flooring goes in next Wednesday, and we've still to hear back about our carpets.
Please try to contain yourselves - I realise the excitement is hard to bear; I'm not sure how I manage to get through the day without chaing my boxers several times, to be honest.
On an unrelated note, I'm still having fun in WoW with Mhorag, my level 70 Warrior. If you remember, the idea behind me rolling up a Warrior was to force myself to group up and experience some of the instances that I've previously just skipped right past. In all honesty, I haven't really been doing that of late, and have instead been running around doing some daily quests to try and get money together. Whil that's not a bad thing, in and of itself, it's not what I had in mind for Mhorag, so I'm going to try and change that.
I suppose you could look at it like a Catch-22 situation - my gear is pretty bad, which means I feel unsure about tanking, but my gear won't get any better unless I get out there and start doing some tanking.
Yesterday afternoon, I was in the middle of doing yet another daily quest when I received a random PM, quite politely asking me if I would like to tank an instance called The Botanica. It's one of the higher-up level 70 instances, and I've only done one partial run of it in the past with a previous character, so I wasn't too sure about the mecahnics of it, but I decided to bite the bullet. There was a bit of to-ing and fro-ing getting the group sorted out to start the run, which gave me time to look over some strategies for the instance, which made me feel a bit more confident. It ended up being a pretty good run; we wiped once or twice, but nothing too serious. We made a complete sweep of the instance, and I actually picked up some gear - gear that I won't actually use for tanking, ironically, but it will come in handy for when I'm soloing.
I enjoyed tanking - I think I'm pretty good with the mechanics of the class. I've got a good feel for ow aggro is managed, and I'm alert enough to keep track of when other members of the group are in danger, and I should be taunting things away from them - at least most of the time :D
Next time, maybe I'll bang on about why dailies are so bloody addictive, and perhaps explain some of the things I'm talking about.
