I'm still pushing on with my 40K stuff - I've dragged all my paints down from the loft, and picked up a new set of files, a large cutting mat, and some fresh paints to replace the ones which dried up. I'm getting right back into the swing of things with 40K - some of my friends from the wargames club have never left the hobby, and I've kept my ear to the ground, so to speak, so I've never really left it behind. My interest in the hobby is well and truly renewed.
Games Workshop, like most companies, regularly updates their core rules and the army books (Codexes, as GW calls them) for each race in the game. Their latest update is for the armies of the Chaos Space Marines - legions of genetically enhanced humans who have turned traitor and devoted their souls to various dark Gods, or simply to their own greed and lust. Their new Codex isn't actually out for a couple of week yet, but I've managed to get my hands on a copy of it via a friend.
As I've always wanted to start up a Chaos army, I've decided that the new Codex is the perfect place to start, so I'm in the process of collecting some figures together to make a small Chaos Space Marine army. These marines are known as Plague Marines, as they have devoted themselves to the Chaos God Nurgle, the embodiment of plague, disease and rot. I'm still waiting on the bulk of the models to arrive, but Ive started on a few tester models, see below for pics of my first completed model.
I've used a colour scheme composed pretty much entirely of greens, as these guys are supposed to be host to pretty much every disease in existence, leaving them rotten and swollen with corruption, barely held together by their armour. Their weapons are encrusted with rust and filth, given that they've long ago stopped making the effort to keep them clean and well-maintained.
