Shared on Wed, 08/15/2007 - 07:00I have been bittne by the painting bug again. I've always been a big fan of wargaming, and got into Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 game years ago - my parents bought me the boxed set fo teh 2nd edition for my sixteenth birthday, if I recall correctly.
I was always a bigger fan of painting than I was of the actual gaming, collecting a model here and a unit there, from several different armies. I've mentioned more than once that I ran a wargames club - we played 40K there almost exclusively.
SInce closing the club down, I've taken a bit of a hiatus from the 'scene'. I've kept pretty much up to date, but my models and paints have all been stored up in the loft until recently. My last big army was a Witchhunters - I've always been a fan of the Sisters of Battle models - and while I was cleaning up a few weeks ago, I found a special character model, the Living Saint, lying around in bits, unpainted and partially assembled. She's a fantastic model, and the fact that I never got round to paininting her up before always annoyed me.
So, inspired anew, I grabbed my brushes and paints and got to work. I took things slowly, but getting the hang of the brushes and paints proved to be easier than I thought it would be. The project took a bit longer than I thought it would, purely because of my finger slicing antics, but it ruend out very well. I'll be speaking with my girlfriend tonight to get her to tech me how to use our digital camera correctly - she's a photographer in her spare time you see.
But the whole thing may have been a mistake. Inspiration has struck me, the muse is upon me, and all I seem to be able to think about at the moment are the various paint schemes that I could try out on some of the many miniatures that I hauled out of the loft over the past couple of nights - note that I have put them back up though. I've catalogued some of the stuff that I'm pretty confident I'll not be using any more - mostly a space marine army that I started while I was still working with Games Workshop - and I think I'll try to either trade or sell it online after I find out what price/trade value I can expect from it. The figures in question are all assembled but unpainted, and have been packed away in a safe figure case, so they're all in perfect condition.
The idea is that if I sell any of my old stuff, it can go directly to funding new stuff, or even better, I can just arrange some direct trades for some of the new stuff I'm after.
I'll try to get some pics up later tonight.
