Shared on Tue, 12/19/2006 - 11:18Things proceed frustratingly slowly on our financial situation. Our house is being valued tomorrow morning, sometime between 10AM and 12PM. We had it valued just around a year ago, when we remortgaged, so we'll be hoping that it will not have increased in value by very much, if anything.
Is that wrong? Not to us - the more the house is worth, the higher the equity we will have, and the more money we will have to borrow from my in-laws. (Technically not my in-laws, as my girlfriend and I are not married - but I'm just splitting hairs.)
I feel that I should go on for a bit longer, that I owe you more somehow. My heart isn't really in it, but for you gentle reader, I will grit my teeth and type on.
We had a Christmas lunch with my parents, my paternal Grandmother, and my paternal Great-Aunt. Of course, when my mother informed me it would be lunch, she omitted to mention that it would take place at 5PM. Not exactly a lunch-time in my book. Admittedly, my father is a taxi driver, and didn't get home until about 4AM on Sunday morning, but still, we felt rather cheated that the occasion had been advertised wrongly. I'd already explained to my mother that no-one is getting a present from us this year, so she'd had time to work on a couple of little digs at our expense. The restaurant was deserted, the music was too loud, and my gran and great-aunt are both the wrong side of 80 now, so they spent most of the meal mumbling insults to each other and not eating the food. While my girlfriend and I didn't exactly argue on the way home, things were certainly frosty for a while.
Still when we got home, I fired up Lego Star Wars 2 and everything was right with the world again, as it seems to relax her watching me play it. Strange girl.
I realise I'm a bit behind the times with LSW:2, but I'm rapidly making up for it. I breezed through the story missions in a day or two, but I'll have to go back through most of them to pick up the secrets from each, both in Story and Free Play. For some reason, I seem to struggle with the vehicular levels in particular - the controls seem far too sensitive, and completely counter-intuitive. One of the minikit bonus missions - I forget which one precisely - had me grinding my teeth in frustration on Sunday evening. I blamed it on the stress of the 'lunch' throwing my skillz out of whack.
That's my excuse anyway, and I'm sticking to it.
