Shared on Sun, 03/28/2010 - 20:25I have a friend that claims to often say inappropriate things. She calls it “lacking a filter”. It is a phrase I am going to adopt.
I was at a surprise 40th birthday party for one of my friends over the weekend. Beer tends to flow at these occasions. I was talking to my friend’s husband and his mother (who probably had a few as well). Now, judging from the age of her kids, this woman had to be in her 60s. She said to me, “As an older woman, I can get away with saying things like this, I think you’re adorable. You remind me of someone from movies or TV”. An acceptable response would have been, “I’m flattered, thank you”. It’s not “I would be really impressed if you are referring to porn”. I walked away thinking about what an ass I am. As my designated driver and I were leaving for the night, I made my way back to apologize. I told her I am sorry for my ill-chosen comment, and she stated she was not offended and joked that she had seen porn. I remarked out of relief, in what I thought was a joking manner, that if she were not married I would kiss her on the mouth…so she grabbed me and kissed me full on the lips. So what is the moral of the story and what did I learn from this?…older ladies dig me.
