Not a good February

It's 2:45 in the morning and I can't sleep.  I feel like utter shit because I'm sick  (probably caught someone on the place from the conference for work I just got home from.)

Speaking of work, I found out that they are eliminating my position at the college for next year.  So come June, I'm out of a job, nice welcome home gift from the ol' boss huh?  I was at work for an hour fixing the sound system in our student center when I was told.  I was devestated.  We were just looking to get a new car to replace mine since its old and has a ton of miles on it, but now I have to job search, so we have since thrown that idea out the window.  I took Thursday and Friday off to try and figure out how I'm supposed to work until June knowing I won't have a job come then.  I will probably be going out to Seattle for a job coference in March and another in DC in April.  I'm keeping my finger's crossed Ill find something.  Getting the fact that you are getting laid off has been one of the most eye-opening experiences in my life.  I never expected it honestly.  I know the economy is bad, but I thought I was isolated some being the low man on the totem pole in a job in education.  Oh well, there is just a bunch of uncertainty now.  I don't know what my new job will be like, if I find one, and I probably won't be attending the Lan now.

Finding out I lost my job, really put a downer on not only the car, being sick compounds my feelings of misery, but also kinda ruined the fact that my Birthday is coming up on Wednesday.  I'm in no mood to celebrate.

Ah well, I just needed to get some thoughts out in the open.  I'm trying to remain positive and hoping that this is a blessing in disguise, but only time will tell.

:( Sorry to hear. But I'm with Doodi... most people I know got 2-4 weeks notice before getting laid off. You have a lot of time to do your search while getting paid your full salary. Also what is your background?

Sorry to hear about the job loss - but at least you're blessed with time instead of a pink slip on some Friday.

Sorry to hear about this stri. I was told on Tues that my position was being transfered to Manilla. My final date at my company is Aug.7. After 12 years at the same place, I thought I might make it through another layoff, but I was wrong. Hang in there man...Things will work themselves out.

Move out here! But seriously dude, I know you will find something. Dont worry to much. Look at it this way, for many people the layoffs came suddenly and without warning. The fact that you have the time to even look is huge. Focus on the good!

Yea that sucks on your bday. But from what i am reading more and more people are enrolling in school around the country. That means more people to teach them will be needed.
