I got them because my late night gaming can sometimes keep my fiance up at night. In an attempt to lessen that I began searching for headphones that were compatible with the 360. I first thought I would get the Turtle Beach headphones. Then I realized that although they are wireless they are not 5.1. So I can across the Tritton AX360's. I did some research, read some reviews, then searched 2o2p. Both Tank and th3midnighter both reviewed them very positively. I thought what the hell and bought them off of Buy.com with the Google checkout .
Verdict:
I'm never going back to playing video games without these headphones. I am hearing things that I never heard with my 5.1 surround sound system. Birds chirping on Sanctuary, footsteps on GOW, the blades shifting on the dashboard. These headphones are awesome. The cord is plenty long so even though I have a cord running along the floor it is hardly inhibitive. The extension cable they give you to plug into the controller is great too. Coupled with the Datel headphone adapter, I'm able to mute myself without a problem. The rest of the audio adjustments are inline on the headphones themselves and they give you quite the range. Noise from the outside is still audible for when Krista is yelling for me, but they are still immersive enough to not have outside distractions.
Cons: The headphone cups can sometimes build up a lot of heat around your ears, when gaming for an extended period of time. Like Tank and TM said, the microphone seems like an afterthought but it serves it's purpose. Sound seems clear in my headset as well as in the messages I record.
If you want an awesome 5.1 surround sound headset for the Xbox 360 or your computer check these puppies out. They are 100 dollars shipped on Buy.com right now with the $20 off for the google checkout.
