Complimentary

I received a coupon from La Madeleine for a complimentarty pastry for my birthday - I thought that was nice, although somewhat creepy that I received more Birthday wishes from restaurants this year than from friends (La Madeleine, D&B, Rockfish, Il Sole, On the Border, Blue Mesa, and BRIO). But, I found the advertisement misleading. I went to pick up my pastery, taking my time to select the perfect one. Yet, after taking my pastry and quickly removing myself to a quiet corner of the restaurant, I found that the pastry was not complimentary at all. No matter how I attempted to engage said pastry, it remained mute uttering nary a word, complimentary or otherwise. I would've liked it to at least muster up some tiny word of acknowledgement, even if no compliments came to mind. But, alas, complimentary pastries appear to only exist in fairy tales.

I find the same thing to be true of my supposedly outgoing mail. It never has much to say.

Sounds like one of my nightmares even though it was not at night and had nothing to do with a horse.

I once had lunch with a cream filled doughnut. It was rude and you wouldn't believe the things that came out it's hole.
