Shared on Sat, 12/02/2006 - 16:28I received a coupon from La Madeleine for a complimentarty pastry for my birthday - I thought that was nice, although somewhat creepy that I received more Birthday wishes from restaurants this year than from friends (La Madeleine, D&B, Rockfish, Il Sole, On the Border, Blue Mesa, and BRIO). But, I found the advertisement misleading. I went to pick up my pastery, taking my time to select the perfect one. Yet, after taking my pastry and quickly removing myself to a quiet corner of the restaurant, I found that the pastry was not complimentary at all. No matter how I attempted to engage said pastry, it remained mute uttering nary a word, complimentary or otherwise. I would've liked it to at least muster up some tiny word of acknowledgement, even if no compliments came to mind. But, alas, complimentary pastries appear to only exist in fairy tales.
