Dirty Jobs

I love Dirty Jobs.

Not actual dirty jobs, where I get dirty because then I have to take my shoes off when I go inside, and I just hate that. It’s not that it’s so hard to take my shoes off – I mean, it kinda is, I must admit. I tend to double-tie my shoelaces, so they can be difficult to remove, but this is normal for shoe-taking-off, it’s just that when my shoes are dirty, the laces are more difficult to manage. Also, my hands can get dirty on the dirty shoelaces and who wants that?

No, what I mean is that I love the show “Dirty Jobs” on the Discovery Channel with Mike Rowe. I only discovered it after they all appeared in wonderous HD and it was on at a great cigar shop called Up In Smoke in Highland Village (thanks Scot!). It’s hilarious – very funny – but educational at the same time. Basically, each episode’s one hour length is broken up into 3 jobs which Mike dryly experiences wholeheartedly without complaint yet with observational commentary which tends to break down the job into simple yet eloquent terms reachable to the common man.

Anyway, I’m in love with this awesome program and so I created a spreadsheet to track the episodes I’ve seen – I want to see every last episode, and there’s a lot to catch up on (fortunately, Discovery replays them fairly frequently). You are welcome to download this spreadsheet and use it free of charge as long as it’s only used for PERSONAL USE and not republished or distributed in any way (you may link to my website if you’d like).

I believe he was also an opera singer at one point as well. Talk about an interesting career.\r \r Love the show. My favorite is the guy outside of Las Vegas that would collect and boil all of the leftovers from the hotel buffets for his pigs as slop. Very dirty, very funny...

Mike Rowe is a god at our house. My 6 year old would rather watch him then cartoons. I have a little crush on him myself. Hes hawt for an old guy ;)\r Jmarps is right, he used to be an opera singer. He sings sometimes on dirty jobs. It makes me happy. \r *sigh*

LOL... yeah, my 5 year old would rather watch Dirty Jobs then cartoons.\r \r As soon as she sees Mike, she asks \"Is this Dirty Jobs?\" and as soon as she hears \"Yes\" she's hooked.\r \r One of the episodes I watched yesterday, he sang some Opera.\r \r I beleive it was when he was making candy, and he was trying Opera Chocolate. He was quite good (singing).

When I was relatively young, he hosted one of those homes showcase shows in the Baltimore area. Dirty Jobs is way more interesting.

my 6 year old ADORES dirty jobs. Until this past January it was on everyday at 3, so he would watch that instead of cartoons. I have seen every single episode except for the newest one that was on last week. \r Its a great show- Mike is a freaking Riot. If you want a good chuckle, check out some of his old Home shopping network stuff.

At first I thought i was in a time tunnel that had pulled me somehow back 4 or 5 years when the show first came out. Thankfully, its still 2008...whew..

Great show, but I still prefer Mythbusters. Deadliest Catch is pretty good as well. Especially now that they have Mike Rowe narrating it.

What if I have your spreadsheet displayed on a computer screen in a location where it is viewable to customers that are engaging in transactions of a monetary nature but the transactions are not predicated on the viewing of said spreadsheet? Would that violate your terms of service? What if I told you the business model of the aforementioned location is along the lines of a soft serve ice cream semi-nude massage service for elderly cataract patients?

Awesome show and Mike's sense of humor is great. His subtle tongue in cheek quips are hilarious. I t never fails if i happen to be flipping channels and see it, i'm stopping on it and watching it. Eventually the whole family is watching with me.

aimzb: I'm pretty sure that Mike Rowe has always narrated Deadliest Catch.\r \r Dirty Jobs is one of the few shows that are appt TV for the Venom household. One of the things I love about it is how it breaks the 4th wall and involves his producer and crew.

Excellent show.\r \r Y'all should search Youtube for when he worked for QVC (or some shopping network)...\r \r Even then he was pretty funny.\r \r And, FYI, he's a trained opera singer.

No one's busting on Tait's obvious OCD behavior.\r \r How dirty are your shoes? A little dirty or really dirty? Were you just walking outside or squishing through six inches of sloppy mud. The kind of mud with that oily sheen from decomposing vegetable matter. The kind of mud made from the countless leavings of insects and worms. The kind of place dogs love to piss. Little trickles of mud sliding down into your shoes because it is so deep. The kind of mud that soaks into the padding of your shoes and will never come out.\r \r I may need to open Excel and track where my shoes have been.\r

Mike was originally going to be on the boat with them as a host on deadliest catch, and dirty jobs was supposed to be a one time thing. Dirty jobs was a hit, and they reworked deadliest catch so he could do both. \r And no, I wont admit to how I know all this. \r :)
