Disappearing Act

What would happen if you disappeared?  Who'd notice?

The problem with some experiments is that they are often times irreversible.  The trick to life, I believe, is determining whether the wonderment of your brain is worth confirmation or not.  Most people - and I truly believe this - prefer not to know.  They'd rather the illusion.  Rather the facade of solid rock rather than the reality of cardboard.  Rather watch the movie and never see the behind the scenes.  Rather the lies that feel good than the truth that stings in all the wrong places.

Not me.

I believe the question would be more appropriately stated "When would anyone notice?" The who would be eventually everyone depending on your day to day exposure tp people and what role they play in your life. The more often you are engaged with them then the more likely that they will notice you missing sooner than someone that only sees you once a week or once a month. And since it is common place for one person to not notice the change in routine immediately, I would say that you can take your interaction (daily, weekly, monthly) and times by 3-5 and then you will get your answer. Daily - I would say around 3-5 days Weekly - 3-4 weeks to notice Monthly - 2-3 months to notice Yearly - 2-3 years to notice I have no facts or information to back this up, it is strictly based on my observation of people and how they interact with one another. And as a manager, when people stop to ask "have you seen so-n-so?" only to find out they were let go last week or have been on vacation for 2 weeks. As for who would care that you were gone, that's an entirely different question. And would be based on the number of and quality of relationships that one has. And how deeply they have poured into them, nurtured them, and treasured them. The more you mean to pepole, they more you are on their mind, and the more they are looking to interact and see you. And assuming a belief in God, he would of course know where you were and would notice immediately. ;)
