Shared on Thu, 09/13/2007 - 08:51So, I was forwarding an email from a friend to some other friends because it was hilarious, and I noticed a mispelled word - it was glaringly mispelled, and I thought about correcting it. But, then I got in a dilemna - is it right to edit someone else's typing in that fashion? I mean, would I, in essence, be changing that person's words and originality by correcting a mispelling? Is it unethical? At the same time, wouldn't it be prudent to "protect" my friend from the mispelling being seen by others when the intent is the content and not how a word is spelled, which might detract from the content when others see the mistake?
What do you do - do you edit other's words, or just forward them "as-is"?
