Shared on Tue, 06/10/2008 - 12:52I went to a Dot Net (.NET) Users Group meeting at Microsoft here in the Dallas area a couple months ago and it was sponsored by Match.com. We got a "giveaway" when we entered the room and I tossed it in my car without much thought. But, today, I grabbed it and brought it to my desk. It's a small tin of mints. Well, not "tin". Not even metal. It's a small "plastic" of mints. I think it's plastic - but it's not that hard kind of plastic, it's more of the sorta soft, slightly textured plastic that can collect pocket lint, but isn't painful when in your pocket. Well, I don't know much about your pocket - maybe you don't have pockets. I'm sorry that I assumed you have pockets.
They are mints, though.
Anyway, the plastic (we're not calling it a tin!) was sitting there beside my computer when it suddenly occurred to me how appropriate it is that Match.com gives away mints. I don't know if it's more or less appropriate to give them away to web developers, but I did think it interesting to give people mints. "Hey, you need to have some of these so you're ready for a date!". I'm just glad they don't give away child support packages.
Here's a horrid pic of the plastic from my phone - for your approval, Match Mints:
