Rain

Last year here in Texas we had a severe drought. This year? Freaking rain all the freaking time. Weirdness - really weird.

So, I get my 7-day forcast from weather.com today and it says:

  • M - Thunderstorms - Scattered - 60%
  • Tu - Thunderstorms - Scattered - 60%
  • W - Thunderstorms - Scattered - 50%
  • Th - Thunderstorms - Scattered - 40%
  • F - Thunderstorms - Scattered - 30%
  • Sa - Thunderstorms - Isolated - 30%
  • Su - Thunderstorms - Isolated - 30%

What the hell is the difference between a "Scattered" thunderstorm and an "Isolated" thunderstorm? I swear there's some guy somewhere at weather.com trying to play a trick on me that I don't get... "Hmmmm... let's call this one "scattered" and that one "isolated" and this one over there we'll call "distantly detached and emotionally unavailable" and..."

Crazy weatherman - same chance of thirty percent of rain on Friday and Saturday, but one is scattered and one isolated. Now, I've been to a party where there's like one guy over in the corner and I'd say he's Isolated. Then, if he were to pass gas, we could see how fast the people at the party would scatter to isolated corners. Either way, I doubt it would rain indoors.

I think scattered t-storms are scattered about the area and isolated t-storms are isolated to a specific area....=)

I think Scattered means your t-Storm once had a bunch of buddies, but now they all scattered. You know, graduation, marriage, kids - it all tends to lead to the group getting scattered. No one's fault really. And, while they'll try to get together to cause some rain, you never know who's kid has soccer or who will have to wash the car instead or whatever. I think Isolated means the t-storm is just a loner. You know how those types are - they might show up and they might not.
