Anyway I've been thinking lately about how I'm going to eventually support my family on my current salary once Michelle and I get married next September and we start having kids.
We get by now but thats on 2 salaries. At some point she either be pregnant or acting as a stay-at-home mom like she wants and I don't know how we'll afford it.
Today the answer came.
I work for a company that does sub-contracting work for Verizon. Alot of what I do involves installing peoples Fios services. I usually work with the one guy in our company who is charge of the Fios installations.
I find out today that he is leaving the company after Friday. The first thing I think of is "I wonder who will pick up his slack" Because he does alot for our company.
After a days work I get back to our yard and park the van, unload my tools and head to the office to see what I'm scheduled for tomorrow.
The company yard foreman, pretty much the head guy under the owner comes up to be and says ..
"Can you handle drops?" (Meaning fiber installs)
I say
"Yeah, shouldn't be a problem."
he says
"No I mean taking them over, totally"
I say
"Sure, I've worked with Junior enough, I know the deal."
He says
"Cool, thats what I figured."
and he pats me on the back and walks away.
This means 4 things.
1- I get a company cell phone now
2- I get a company truck
3- I no longer will have to work out of town for weeks at a time
4- I'll be making ALOT more money and can set my own hours because I just got promoted to foreman.
It was a good day.
