A Fellow Gamer Needs Your Help

I recently learned that a member of the local New England Arcade Collector's Forum (NEACF), Scott Gaulin, was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Scott is the type of guy that gives of himself and asks little in return. He is a long time volunteer for the American Classic Arcade Museum at Funspot in Weirs Beach, NH and has had a hand in helping to bring the ACAM arcade room to the first two PAXEast events. He has frequently pulled together groups of people to purchase rare arcade games and driven all over New England is search of games to donate to ACAM. Upon learning of his diagnosis Scott has decided to donate his entire classic arcade collection to ACAM with the hope that it will help to inspire a new generation of fans for this dying genre. This is no small donation, as you can see in the video below that Scott has quite an amazing collection of classic coin-op arcade games.

Scott could have asked people to help him out financially during these trying times as the medical bills pile up. Instead, he has requested that we help raise money for ACAM to support their efforts to purchase a number of rather rare games for their ever-growing collection and museum. To this end I humbly ask that you consider making a donation in Scott's name to ACAM in any amount that you can afford. ACAM attracts thousands of visitor from all over the world every year and is currently home to the largest collection of coin-operated and classic arcade games in the world. They also host an annual tournament that attracts the top arcade game players in the world, resulting in numerous new world records each year. Please help us celebrate Scott's achievements and dedication to our hobby and those who make up the community of gamers, not only here in New England, but across the country and the globe.

A Celebration

And since Scott will not ask for support for himself, we at NEACF are working with our friends at ACAM to organize a special fund-raising tournament in Scott's name to help raise money for him and his family. Currently, the tentative date is February 25th (pending confirmation with ACAM). Once an official date has been confirmed, I will post more information. Please consider setting aside the day and making the trek to New Hampshire for Scott, for ACAM and for the future of arcade games in general. Let's celebrate, play some games and help out someon who truly deserves your support.

With sincerest appreciation,

Dane Tullock

Having lost many people in my life to cancer I wish I was in a position to donate. Sadly all I can offer are my condolences.

Dont worry Azure you wouldn't have been donating to help him or his family. You would be donating to help a arcade game organization raise money to buy more old arcade machines... Change the title Waterborn. It Should read "ACAM Needs your Help, And we will use a sick guys Name to get it!

Hey Poltic, with all due respect you are WAY off base with your comments. This request for support comes from myself and fellow collectors and friends of Scott as a means to help preserve his legacy as an arcade collector. It was not initiated by anyone at ACAM or Funspot. Scott is someone who has lived and breathed video games for decades and wants to make sure that his efforts will educate future generations of gamers about the history of their hobby. ACAM is a non-profit organization within Funspot and is a net-loss entity year after year. No one from ACAM would EVER suggest using Scott's condition to their benefit. When my fellow NEACF members and I asked Scott how we could help he suggested that we support his favorite charity, ACAM. As stated in my post , we (the members of NEACF) are also working to organize a fund-raiser specifically to assist Scott & his family with expenses, something Scott would so of his own accord. As you can tell I feel rather strongly about supporting this effort. Scott has done more for the gaming community as a whole than many will every realize and deserves your support. Don't donate if you do not wish to, but please don't discourage others from doing so. Thanks, Dane

Sorry, despite my best efforts to proof-read my response, I mistyped. The following exert should have read: "something Scott would NEVER do of his own accord."
