I was contacted by DMZilla a few weeks ago with a request to fill out a questionaire for the XBox Live Gamers Spotlight and the profile just went live on XBL. I believe that the full profile, with all my answers to the questionaire, will go live on Xbox.com later today or this weekend. When I sent in my questionaire answers, it never occurred to me how much my XBL inbox would blow up. I woke up to over 50 new messages this morning. First and foremost, HUGE THANKS to everyone who has checked out the profile and sent me a message. I am going to try to answer as many as I can. Unfortunately, I am heading out to climb Mt. Washington in New Hamphire later today and may miss some as the older messages get pushed off the list as new ones come in once the total exceeds 100. So if you send me a message and I don't reply, wait a few day until I return and can clear things out and send me a follow-up message. So far some of the coolest messages I have received are from younger people who are interested in becoming Marine Biologist, which is amazingly cool to me. I remember when I was a kid growing up in Florida, going to places like Sea World and Marineland, dreaming of doing that some day. I would have killed for 5 minutes to talk to anyone working there to find our more about how to do what they were doing. Well, eventually I went to college, then grad school and finally, at the age of 25, broke into the field. I worked for various public aquariums for close to 13 years until moving on to my current profession as a Community Outreach Specialist for a major retail company here in Boston. Though I love what I do now, I very much so do often miss working as a Marine Biolgist. So if anyone out there wants more information about my background or advice on how to pursue a career in Marine Biology, please contact me via XBL or by pm here at 2old2play. I would love to do whatever I can to encourage you to follow your dreams. You will not be disappointed.
And for those of you who think I am being a George Castanza ("Was it a Titlelist?" - Look it up folks), here are a few pictures of me from my days working with sharks and other marine animals.
