If you follow my Twitter Feed, then you know that I went on a little camping trip to Mt Washington in New Hampshire this weekend. Widely considered one of the most extreme places with regard to weather in the Continental US, Winter climbing and camping at this location is serious. This was the second trip of this nature that I have been on (the first in 2009 resulted in a failed summit attempt). Once again, I was unable to reach the top of the mountain, though 6 of my peers on this trip did get to the summit (and most importantly back). While they were on the summit, my team experienced winds gusting over 80 mph and wind chills down to -25 degrees F. Here are some pictures from our trip. I will post pics of the summit once my friends have recouperated and gotten their photos online.

What happened that you couldn't make it but the others could?

I am too old basically. It is very physically strenuous trying to snowshow and climb up in 10" of fresh snow. I simply didn't have what it takes and opted to come back down instead of hold my group back. Not glorious, but smart.
