Shared on Wed, 03/24/2010 - 23:21PAXEast is upon us folks. I spent today preparing for our Gamers Gone Wild Party and meeting up with the most excellent folks from SFX-360 who arrived in Boston from Miami today. After meeting up with my FLA peeps and heading over to Lir to check out the venue for the big party on Saturday, I raced up to NH to meet up with my friend Sarah, who runs My Arcade Repair, so that she could help me fix an issue with the monitor that came out of the Street Fighter Arcade Cab that will go to the winner of the Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting Challenge Tourney on Saturday night. Sarah knows her shit and within a short period of time, the monitor was cracking and pretty. So I loaded that baby up and raced down to my fellow coin-op collector Joey's place to pick up the cab. Joey was kind enough to let me store this game in his garage so that I could easily work on it this week to get it ready for the tourney. Snagged the cab from Joey and headed back to my place to unload the cab. With a little help from my girlfriend, a skateboard and a comforter (don't ask) we were able to get the machine in our house, where I put the monitor back in, made some minor adjustments and put the finishing touches on it to get it ready. This thing is looking very pretty now and plays very smoothly.
On Saturday, Justin Wong of Empire Arcadia (current Street Fighter IV World Champion) will be doing demos on this machine from 8 - 9 pm. He will sign the cab and then turn it over to a field of 36 players who will compete in a single elimination tournament to see who is indeed the best Street Fighter at PAXEast. The winner will walk away with bragging rights, and a newly refurbished Street Fighter II Championship Edition Arcade Cabinet of their very own.
So if you are going to be at PAXEast in Boston this weekend, and you think you have the skills as a Street Fighter, join us at Gamers Gone Wild and prove you metal. Maybe you will go home with this.
