Shared on Mon, 12/13/2010 - 22:29I just returned from the Boston Flynn Lives screening and have to say that this is now one of my top ten films of all time, including the first TRON, A Clockwork Orange, Blade Runner and Fight Club (to give you some context on my range of tastes). Aside from a few logical hiccups which I will not discuss until more people have had time to see the movie, this movie was everything that I had hoped it would be. The screening tonight was on a standard movie screen, so some of the 3D and special effects were a bit less than what I expect to see on the Big IMAX screening during the screenings on Wednesday and Thursday. With that said, I think that light jets are the most amazing visual experience that I have ever witnessed. The sequence brought to mind the Blue Angels shows that I use to watch with my father as a kid, BUT WITH LIGHT JETS MAN! I simply loved Jeff Bridges take on the older Flynn, and many may see a bit of the Dude in there when all is said and done. Garrett Hedlund was not as bad as I had thought he would be once you see his entire performance in the context of the film itself. Olivia Wilde was a joy to watch every time she was on screen. I will hold off on discussing the plot until more have seen the film, but with the exception of one glaring WTF moment toward the end, I thought that the plot was tight enough compared to the original and similar Sci-fi fare. And there are some nice nods to the original for us old school fans:

For a life long TRON fan who saw the original movie on opening night at the theater in the WDW Contemporary Hotel arcade, I must say that I really could not be more pleased with what I saw tonight. And tomorrow I get to see the original TRON on the big screen, then two more screenings of Legacy Wed & Thurs. This is indeed a wonderful week to be a user.
- End of Line -
I will post a full review after everyone has had time to see the film so that I don't hit my followers with spoilers. So go see the film NOW!
