Shared on Sun, 07/09/2006 - 07:46Sunday again. Almost back to work. Never mind, there is still a full day ahead and the World Cp final to watch. Not too shabby. The weather is a bit driech (drab, dreary, wet, grey) and Im home alone. So what is a guy to do? Game on! Of course. Before that though there is the serious business of a rumbling tummy. Its calling out "sausages" over and over again but I dont have any. My wife is on a bit of a health kick at the moment so I am eating a lot of food that is green and crunchy with the occasional red squishy items. I want something hot and greasy to eat for a wee change. No luck in the fridge or freezer though. I could go to the shop but Ive already mentioned the weather plus Im sitting here in my house trousers and that would necessitate a change of clothing, which Im just not prepared to do. I got out of bed, that was enough hard work for today. But let me address the issue of house trousers for a moment. These are not exactly common in the old world. I must confess that until my Mum brought them back from Canada I had never heard of such things. Indeed, why would one even need a particular sort of trouser ("pants" to my North American cousins) just to wander around the house? Surely trousers are trousers?
How wrong I was. These, the ones I have on, look a bit like someone put them together from a blue plaid table cloth but they are rather comfy and entirely suited to lazing around the house. I do think they look a bit like pyjama bottoms and would likely change out of them if we had visitors at the door but they will do for now, even if I cant go for sausages. In the end I have settled for potato waffles and fried eggs, cooked in extra virgin olive oil and lightly salted. Quite tasty, hot, filling but not sausages. I am unfulfilled. I still want sausages.
