IT'S MINE!!!

Finally, after all the deliberation and debate, the new car is mine.

Pictures to come at some point over the weekend, but took a spin through the neighborhood and around the parking lot of the high school, and already have a good feel for the clutch into first gear.  My anxiety level has bottomed out finally, and I can't wait till driving it becomes second nature.

Simply Delicious

Ever make a meal at home and it comes out perfect? By perfect I mean the "Damn, I would have paid a ton of money to have this in a restaurant" perfect. These are the recipies you fine tune and make when you have company. You know the type. Well, last night I can say with no problem I had one of those meals. Only bummer was it was dinner for one, as my wife and kids are up at my inlaws for their spring break. So...what was on the menu?

The Deed is Done

Well, after what seemed like forever of obsessing and thereby pissing off the wife and the good folks in site chat, I finally made it happen and am the proud owner of a new car. Yup, new, not used. All my other cars have been used to keep away from that 25+% depreciation the second you drive off the lot, but in the reality of today, the end price isn't that too far removed.

Opportunity Lost...

...but that's not necessarily a bad thing.  The car in the previous blog sold off the lot yesterday before I could get home and get more information in on it.  So while it would have been a lot of fun, it does now give me time to first think of my rationale behind wanting a new car, and then finding the right one for me.

Temptation

I was reading today on the Blackberry (yeah, during the morning constitutional...) that auto manufacturers are tacking on even more incentives to try and drum up business. The latest, from GM and Ford, is the 'job insurance policy' where they'll cover up to a year's worth of payments if you lose your job. Well, not that I'd ever buy new - we all know how fast cars lose value that first, oh SECOND off the lot - but it got me thinking on my car. I'm driving a 2001 Chrysler Concorde with 110k miles. Still runs fine without any major hiccups.
