Home Sweet Home

Well, at least for a week. I'm off to Beijing on Saturday.

As you read (or didn't...) in the last blog, I was out in Madrid, Spain for an annual business meeting last week. Normally held in Copenhagen, this year the planning group decided to move it to a different country we have significant presence in and chose Spain. I was elated when I heard of it, and couldn't wait to get out there. Now, after returning, all I can say is it lived up to all my expectations and then some.

Donde esta el bano?

Well, today starts part dos of the travels for this year.  A few weeks ago, I spent some, er interesting times in Amsterdam for some project work out of the office.  Next on the agenda is a flight this evening to sunny Madrid for the week.  Not project work this time, but the annual international congress for the global Quality department.  Normally the meeting is held in Copenhagen, but I guess I bitched to the right people last year for the change of venue, and couldn't be happier.  Time to brush up on my long-since-forgotten Spanish, and hope that I can recognize what I'm ordering off a men

Balek's Movie Review™ - Iron Man

Looking outside lately, its hard to believe that spring has supposedly arrived. It hasn’t been overly warm, rain has come and gone sporadically, and all the activities you would associate with spring aren’t grabbing me (outdoor work, getting out on the bike, fishing, baseball). However, I think I might have found the problem – spring just never came, and we’ve jumped straight into summer. Why would I say that? Easy. Because the first summer blockbuster has hit the theaters, and it’s called Iron Man!

R* Gods Smile Upon Balek

Now if this isn’t a recipe for an incredible day, I don’t know what is –

Wake up to a nice vacation day off from work.

Kiss the kids off on their way to school, and the wife as she heads out to the gym.

Enjoy a nice leisurely breakfast in front of the boob tube (raining like mad outside).

Nice lunch with some post-meal nookie from the Mrs.

Steak dinner with all the fixin’s.
