More East Texas

If you are a regular reader of my blog then you know that things are just a bit different in East Texas. Here is another example of that -

That's right! You don't need no teeth to eat my beef!  With the lackluster dental hygiene skills of a good portion of the local population, this is a HUGE selling point for this guy.  I got a BBQ sandwich while I was there. It was awesome even with my teeth.

Brooklyn Egg Cream

So the other day I was in the grocery store and I spot a bottle of U-bet syrup and I instantly thought of the "world famous"  Brooklyn Egg Cream  - a drink comprised of chocolate syrup, milk and seltzer water. From what I have read and seen on TV you have to use Fox's U-bet syrup because anything else just doesn't taste the same.

Job Update

I got word that the job at Parker was offered to someone else so I am still plugging away at it and sending out resumes.  In the meantime I have been helping my father-in-law clear some land that he bought. So I am driving a chainsaw most afternoons and pushing my way through the thorny vines that cover the place.  I told my father-in-law I needed to hurry up and find a job so I could get some rest.

The X-Show

A few years back the FX network had a great show called The X-Show that was a kind of classier version of The Man Show. It was very well made and covered all kinds of topics from cooking to how to gamble like a high-roller. I loved it so naturally it was canceled. Here are a few commercials for the show that I thought you would find funny.

Things Are Different In East Texas

In East Texas the people are a little different and approach things from a different angle. Sometimes this catches me off guard and other times it gives me a chuckle.  Here is an example of one of the chuckles.

On older upscale cars there used to be a popular option called a continental kit that consisted of a spare tire and cover that rode on the back of the car that looked like this:
