Makes Me Sick

Many of the large American companies that received billions of taxpayer bailout dollars by pleading that they didn't have enough money to lend to customers were, at the same time, spending millions of dollars dispatching lobbyists to influence the federal government.

A Washington Times review of lobbying disclosure reports found that 18 of the top 20 recipients of federal bailout money spent a combined $12.2 million lobbying the White House, the Treasury Department, Congress and federal agencies during the last quarter of 2008.

Did You Ever Imagine?

Think back appx. (1) year ago.

Did you ever imagine:

- The Arizona Cardinals would be in the Super Bowl?

- The Tampa Bay Rays would win the AL East?

- Mickey Rourke be seriously considered for an Academy Award for Best Actor?

- Gas would be under $2 a gallon?

- Britney Spears would be (almost) hot again?

- That we would have an African-American President?

There are more I'm sure...  post them in the remarks.

Support Systems

I've never realized how important it is to have a support system near where you live until this past year.  Family, friends, etc...   It's good to have these people near you.  The reason I say this, is that my family has no support sytem.  Both sets of our parents live over 10 hours away and brothers and sisters are a good 6-8 hours away.

So, when something comes up, where it would be good to have a family member near, it's a good thing.
