Doodi was right...

"When it rains, it pours."

Monday I received confirmation that I'm losing my job. This morning my dad called to tell me my grandma passed away. When I saw that I had a missed call early in the morning I didn't even have to hear him say it when he called me back. I just knew. It was a little bit harder losing my grandpa 4 years ago because that is ultimately when my grandma's spirit died too. They were married for 60 years. I'm happy they're together again - whatever that means (ground, heaven, spirit - no clue, I'm agnostic)...But I'm sad that she's gone and I'll miss her.

Time for the internal pep-talk...

I will find out in an hour an a half what is up with my job. I mean, I already know - it's done next summer. But, this will make it official. Real. I've run through the emotions in my brain probably 100 times and I feel like I've made peace with it. I have a great network with some very well connected people. I work in healthcare IT - a field positioned to grow. I've got a good education and blah, blah, blah. But sometimes when you think you're mentally prepared for something, it becomes real, and you realize you weren't.

Hi.

What's up punks.

It's been a while. A month? Maybe more. I'm 30. It's lame. I bought myself a ridiculously expensive pair of ass-kicking boots for my birthday. Dean calls them "Fable boots." Other than that, I'm for sure losing my job next year. Well, pretty much for sure. I'll hopefully find out in a couple weeks. I'm sad, I'm mad, and I'm oddly kind of excited to be onto something new because I've been horrendously bored lately.

Just got...

My Flu shot.

Influenza is up there with some of the top preventable reasons for death. Mostly old people and the chronically ill die from it. But if you've had the flu, you know that shit will knock you out for a week. So - go get your flu shot! Go to your work's sponsored event, go to your doctor, go to the grocery store clinic  - whatever. I got my flu shot at MinuteClinic and got a $100 coupon book for CVS - woot! (I also work there and the million+ flu shots we provide each year pay my salary!) So you're extra special if you support my company. =)

huh.

I'm not sure about where you live...But the 10 days leading up to Labor Day are the state fair days in MN. Shit-tons of people go out to the fairground and eat weird shit on a stick (deep fried fresh fruit = not that good. Tastes like pie) and there are a lot of fanny packs.

Dean and I finally went out there for the first time in 10 years or so. The most interesting thing I saw was the "Go Girl." I saw these women in cute pink shirts and a big wall with a woman kayacking and I thought to myself, "What is this booth all about?" A couple more steps and I saw this...
