Ugh, yeah this seems to be going around. Is it an optional download if you are already a premiere member? I don't want to download it until it is patched, but I'm afraid it will auto-download.
IT's an Update + DLC so you won't have an option to download the update or not. IF you want to play online, the update is forced upon you. Now if you want to play offline, you can refuse the update.
I suppose problems were to be expected. Originally this was coming out 2-3 months post-launch, then got bumped earlier to oct 16th and then bumped again to the 9th? I think in this case things might have come out a bit before they ere truly ready.

-Shields that add/remove health no longer tell you
The PC and PS3 seem to have ways to backup your gamesave file BUT on the xbox 360 we don't. You can only move your file from one location to another you can't copy it. So to backit up you need to work outside of the TOS confines or roll the dice and fire up the patch with your master game save.
I did the update at lunch (but not download the Mechromancer DLC). First I found out BL2 you can actually copy your save game file, so i copied it off Cloud Storage and onto a memory stick. Removed the memory stick and fired up BL2, accepted the update and selected Continue. When i got in-game I checked all my gear, stats, badass points, all there.
Just make sure you copy your savegame to a different location, if you don't have a flash drive, use the free cloud storage feature.

I couldn’t tell if this worked. After the mandatory TU it said it synced with my cloud save which kinda defeated the purpose. Having the game save on a thumb drive not connected to the box might be safer. It wouldn’t let me do the compatibility update, so I don’t know if that syncs as well. Maybe someone else gave this a try??
XBL said the cost of the compatibility update was -1 MS point. When I tried to install, said I didn’t have enuf points and that I would need to buy roughly 4.6 billion points to cover the cost. I chose not to buy the points.

This happened to me too in the earlier evening (central time). I figured something was bugged and turned off my box to come back later. When I got on around 10:30 or so, it was cleared up, the update was marked as free, and I could download it fine. So far, no issues with it.
The cloud save is a different save location , you can use it as a backup location. BUT it is stored on your hard drive for speed and stability reasons, then it syncs that virtual storage file to the cloud for you. But if your primary save was on your HDD and your backup was on the cloud, they are still two seperate copies of your save game, if one gets butchered, the other one will be fine. Worst worst case scenario, the copy up on the cloud would be 24h old if your hard drive crashed and you lost both the cloud replica copy and the HDD copy.
As for the -1 cost of the Compitibility pack, yes that was microsofts F'up i assume. It was fixed around 7pm PST. But before I could download that pack, i could only play solo i couldn't join or even see my friends online playing within BL2.
Also suspicious.... The mechromancer pack is like 80 megs, but the compatibility pack is almost 200 meg. IF this pack was just to let non-mechro owners play with mechro owners, why is it so much larger?

The good news is that the release of Mechromancer and today's update are not connected to the occurrences of Badass Rank being reset -- while the timing may appear coincidental, it's a separate issue that we are continuing to investigate.
Naaa... i don't buy it. It seems like the compitibility update was the cause of the issues and it's a good 120 meg larger than the Mechro DLC. So it's doing something else, ninja changes that weren't properly tested.

Level 9 gunzerker and level 8 Mechromancer are fine. It's like a free respec just for loading the game, which, I suppose could be viewed as a positive, but, it's a nuisance, as I'm pretty happy with the choices I've made to this point. Anyone else having this experience?

Bringing this thread back 'cause the new update wiped my badass stats. Pretty sure I was able to notice it before I hit a save point. Shit better not be perminent. Shoulda saw it coming when I got the 'bonus skins added for BL1 save' massage when it loaded. Pay attention.

I had no issue with the update.
So far the only bizzaro thing that has happened was after a trade with someone.
I accepted a trade of $55 million and some weapons.
The next time I fired up the game my skill tree points had all been removed from the trees and were just sitting there unassigned.
I had to re-apply them and all has been fine since.
It's a free 'respec' , take the opportunity to evalute your build :)

I lost all mine as well, but eventually they all returned unassigned. I did however lose a couple heads and skins.
hoped on today and it said i have 88 badass points to spend. seriously? also all the dlc points reset to zero. I'm afraid to look at my skins/heads.
