Extraction sounds eerily like and Invasion/1-flag CTF type of gametype. Go get objective be it object/man/pizza and return it to base or take it to this location.
Wouldn't make sense for it to be just 1-flag CTF, so can we rule that one out? Any other guesses without having to ask hitman?

I like Stockpile, so it's too bad that's not coming back.
No Race and no VIP means no way to do mongoose races. The race fans aren't going to like that one bit.
I would still like to know if Lowball is coming back or not. It's an old Oddball variant that was not in Reach. It was a good gametype for uneven teams.
No assault means no Hog Bombers re-make unfortunately. OK, fine. I guess I'll just have to put on my creative hat and make some new stuff, then. I do have a few ideas brewing already.
Extration is Assault... new name, new tweak to the gametype. Multiple locations on a map (5), arm a location, 45sec timer to protect that location, team with the most captures wins...

A good case of what's old is new again. Sounds like the territories variant from H3, with modifications, coming back as the new assualt, sorry Extraction.

So kind of like Rush in BF3 or are the plant locations open at all times and you just have to guess where they are going. Basically territories style?

Its like territories more. Any player can arm a location (a la Counterstrike), there are 5 locations. Each team is on offense and defense. Its whoever scores the most. So i can see a lot of 3-2 games.
I'll go to the closest location to me, arm it, and protect the area for 45secs, it explodes and now my team has 1 point and 4 locations are still available...
OK Extraction sounds awesome. A very frantic and fast paced version, instead of slow and boring. I like it! Thanks Hitman.
Also, lowball was great. It was fun winning because someone on the other team didn't know that even though they had a power weapon, their team was going to lose if they didn't hold the ball for a bit :D
I can't for the life of me remember what that was called in Halo 3 now. It had a particular territories variant name. It was one of the more enjoyable BTB gametypes, and even worked well on asymmetrical maps in team objective too.
That territories varient in Halo 3 was Lurkers wasn't it? Where if you're in the hill you are gaining points, also you have sniper rifles and are invisible in it.

So awesome.
That sounds like the worst game type ever conceived, and I liked Team Control. No, I'm talking about Land Grab. You had 5 territories on the field. No offense. No defense. Team that captures a territory gets a point. Lots of 2-2 draws or 3-2 games. And regular territories gametype i thought did much better in h3 than h2. Nice to see something similar come back.
Any gametype where you take turns back and forth, and have to play the final round even if you've already won, are AWFUL. I hope ones like that get dropped.

Ha, yeah it sucks being on the short end of that stick. When it is literally impossible to win, but you have to sit through another round of defense or whatever.
'course, it's fun being on the other side of that. Just run around the map tea-bagging in the enemy's general direction while letting them capture whatever they want because they already lost.

I was guessing a VIP gametype from H3. Yuk.

Think lowball with the new ball mechanic. Sounds like good times to me.

i can't wait to see extraction. sounds like it will be one of my favorites.
well, i just hope i'm right. pre-release of REACH i was sure i would spend most of MM time in Invasion...
