The Bee shield is getting nerfed
The Bee shield is getting nerfed
I'm sure some of you have found this by now. It's an amp shield that increases your damage by 50k per bullet as long as you don't get hit, but the shield capacity is rediculously low. Well apparently some people feel they can't play the game without it, but feel bad about using it and have complained enough that it's getting nerfed. People liked to use the shield to farm bosses, since that's the only way to get the orange weapons. So rather than increase the drop rate or make it like the first Borderlands where you could actually find orange stuff in chests and the shops they're making it harder to farm bosses.
That's right. On a single player, non competitive game they felt the need to nerf an optional item. Meanwhile there's no word about fixing the glitched badass points, the loss of SDU purchases from Crazy Earl or anything along those lines.
And on the topic of badass points, remember to spend yours evenly across the stats. If you choose to ignore some, say fire rate for example, if it falls too far behind the game will not only stop showing you your favorite stats it'll put fire rate as a choice multiple times to the point where it's the only thing you can pick.
I found a legendary in a machine, they exist.
The need to fix the loot drops though. What's with the trend in roll playing looters lately where drops suck so bad. Yes at it does probably help longevity some, but there's a fine line to walk there where drops are unreasonably rare and people will still sell your game anyway because they gave up. The reward still needs to be there within a reasonable amount of time. Like I dunno if you're farming Warrier, one in 50 fights needs to be a guarateed orange drop. Oranges can drop other times but at #50 you get something every time. Something like that needs to be put in the game.
I'm not even really sure it's worth farming these weapons. I have half a dozen or so oranges that are worthless sitting in my locker. As soon as the level cap goes up, you'll out level the level 50 oranges you've got. So i'm not convinced it's really worth the time investment. IT's fun to do it for a little while but some people do nothing but farm Warrier all night all week long and still don't get shit.
That's the other problem. I've yet to find a legendary weapon that's actually legendary. I've found some really good e-tech weapons. But every time I find a legendary weapon the stats on it are FAR below even a same level blue weapon. Which might not even be so bad if it at least did something cool, but most of em don't. So what's the point in farming a boss for 3 hours to get a weapon that's half as strong as the one I currently have?
And I'm gonna call bs on finding an orange weapon in the shop. :p I've yet to see anything above a green.
 .... had I known this was such a rarity i would have taken a picture. It was in a medical machine , late game, it's a class mod for my siren and I believe it was the Item of the Day if memory serves me. It's a level 35 so it must have happened right at the start of TVHM. I hadn't seen one before or since. I imagine they're about the same rarity as orange drop rates out of bosses.
define "single player, non competitive game"
Because as far as I'm concerned, BL is never fun to play single player, and I don't do it. It's also not "non competitive" unless you don't think that everyone fighting for the same drops is not a competition.
At least in Diablo III you got your own drops. And even in that game, which was the same style of 4 player drop in drop out, they nerfed and changed things constantly.
By single player, non competitive I mean it's not like Halo or something. Me using The Bee and a crazy strong shotgun in my game has zero effect on you in your game. Even if we're playing together co-op and I use that stuff, you still get the xp and drops and everything else, it's not like there's some scoreboard and it's tracking my kills and stuff. So who cares what people use?
You just described Diablo III except in that you get your own drops so it's even less competitive. Yet they still nerf things. It's because you're all going for achievements too, which are only worth something if they are relatively hard to 100%
Sorry to hear about the Bee shield, I have been keeping one to use when I hit level 50
on a character but it sounds like it wont be worth keeping in inventory. I really have
enjoyed both BL 1&2 but it seems most things get "nerfed" instead of improved when
theres an "update". Yes the loot drops could definately be better, just into the TVHM
and it is a real grind solo for not much to show. When I hit Tundra Express on TVHM
I think I will farm the heck outta the developers box, found an orange pistol on Monday
in a first playthrough character-much of my best lower level stuff is from there (lvl 13-15).
Shadow, if you dont care for solo in first playthrough-you will despise TVHM mode in
second-unfortunately....have fun tho mi amigo!
Found legendary commando mod on machine, level 48, but it was 558k and didnt have that scratch at the time. Bunny also looted same mod but lev 50 from a chest in the DLC, it's beast by the way.
I always wondered why BL did not tag loot as it dropped? It is not a problem when playing with friends, but play a public game and it is chaos going for any decent drop.
I think diablo 3 was the first role playing looter to do individual loot drops. I hope it's heavily copied going forward because for public rooms, its just the right way to design RPLs.
LOTR:WIN had this as well.
Just dupe the drop. You're aware that you can do that, right?

The bit with the Tediore reload getting bonus damage was a bug? That was the only thing that made those stupid amp shields worth it. .
I loaded up the 360 game today to get the Shift codes, and there was a prompt for an update. Not sure if it was this update, or one I had missed since playing last, which was a week ago.
Ok, was it nerfed by not making it drop ever? I ahve tried for three nights, a couple hours each, and it has yet to drop. I even put my vault hunter relic on for one night.
Farmed it 4 times and it never took more than 15 - 20 tries for the Bee to drop for me.
Vault Hunter relic won't help you get a Legendary, IMO.
Took 4 days to finally get it. Now to farm the Warrior then onto the Terramorphus.
I want to conference call again, works perfectly with anarchy and no accuracy. I got lucky on the first play through and it dropped. I also got lucky and got the Legendary Mecro mod from a vending machine on the first play through. Though that goes down the other two trees so I went back to my sweethart or punk mod that has +6 annoyed robot. Speed is the key to Deathtrap.
