XBox 360 question and LAN

I currently own 2 XBoxes and have a Family account for me and my boys.  My goal is to leave my new Slim at home with my accounts and DLC intact.  Let the kids play Assassins Creed 3, Minecraft, or anything other than Halo 4 (which I'll have).  I want to take my Elite and hopefully my Gamer tag.  The Elite's Hard drive is wiped from the content transfer.

Can I bring the Elite and download my Gamer tag to that?  Will that wipe off the info on my Slim?   Should I put my Gamer tag on a USB key and just use that?  What are my options here.

It used to remove the account fromt eh other box, but i dont htink it does it anymore. USB is probably your safest bet though. you will nees to download all the DLC again on teh new box though if im not mistaken.

Probably the only DLC I'd want is MW3.  Can you pick and choose?

when you sign into your acccount on the new box and start the game it should give you the option to redownload them.

Will it wipe the DLC from the XBox I'm leaving behind?  They can deal without having MW3 maps, but I don't want it wiping anything else.

It shouldn't wipe anything you don't transfer. To be sure, try it tonight.

If you are downloading DLC you are connected to the internet. If you're connected to the internet, just put your profile in the cloud. Easy peasy

Then just throw your profile on a memory card/ USB key. You'll be good to go

Move your profile to a USB. It can only exist in one place. On a USB it makes it easy to move from Xbox to another. I hope you weren't expecting the kids to use your gamertag on the other system, cause that won't work. If you dont use a USB, you will have to do the account recovery option to get your gamertag on the second xbox, which moves it off you main one. You will then need to do the account recovery again on the main one after the LAN. As for DLC (I assume you mean paid DLC), it is tied to both your gamertag and the console you purchased it on (unless it was officially transferred to another). In order for the DLC to work, either your gamerrag must be signed in, OR it is being accesed on the Xbox it was kicensed to. This means the DLC will work on your main xbox always, and will work on your second xbox only if your gamertag is signed in. Downloaded the DLC to the second xbox WILL NOT deregister it from your main one. Also, make sure you run every game you plan on playing at the LAN on your second xbox while still at home. You need to make sure all auto updates and DLC are downloaded before you get there, cause you may not have good access to the internet while at the LAN! (The year I went I got hit with a Beta of a new dashboard while there!! I had a hard time downloading it, as it slowed down the internet for others.... like the warcraft people :-) )

I can move it to a USB no problem.  My kids have their own gamertags under our family plan.  I assume there won't be an issue.  And It looks like I won't be able to get the DLC for MW3 without pulling it from the current box.  That's not a major problem as I really expect to just play Halo.

That's not true.  Just go to Account History and re-download anything you want.  You can do this at any time with any DLC.

Another quick question. Doodi, LB and Hit were talking about license transfers on thick n thin for playing offline. So after i make sure the games I'm bringing are up to date and the what not. Installed disk two for halos MP.  I then unplug the box and checkout halo and mw3 to make sure my dlc content is still there available for use.  It is!! So if Im bringing my box and gaming on it, do I need to transfer anything???  I only ask because it was stressed so much and  I AINT "that guy".

You'll always be "THAT GUY"!

If this is your main XBox, you're fine.  I'm bringin my spare, so I'd need to transfer DLC.  I actually only want the MW3 maps, just in case we play.  I doubt we will, but it would be nice.

Also, be sure to spin in a circle and spit three times before plugging back in.  LAN is magic time and shit always goes wrong.  So far we haven't lost anyone yet though.

I also put my Gamertag on a USB, was simple enough.  So I'm mostly good to go.

P.S. if anyone fucks up and doesn't have their account on their box somehow, I'll share out my phone's wifi connection as long as you have a slim or wifi adapter.
