And you wonder why I hate camo...

Not because I'm constantly being killed by camo wielding fools, on the contrary, they typically don't have thumbs and can't aim.  However, in the event someone fairly efficient equips it with a light rifle, they can tear shit up.  Why?  Because if you're crouched and using camo, you can get off 3 shots before de-cloaking.  Seeing as how a light rifle is a 4-shot kill while scoped, I foresee this being the new armor lock.

I'm starting to see more camo users pop up.  =/

Is it me or is is harder to see someone cloaked in H4 than it was in Reach?

I would have loved if 343 put active camo in the ordnance drops rather than loadouts.  A missed opportunity.

I run camo and CAN'T get it to not decloak me with any weapon.

And it is VERY hard to see someone using it.   Which sucks.

Where is Arnie and a pool of mud when you need them?

I'm not a fan of it at all. In Reach I was kind of able to see the armour against the background when the radar was going nuts and you knew they were close. Now, unless I am looking right at them (which usually means I am dead or dieing) I can barely see the armour shimmer.

When I run cammo, it seems like I'm very visible. Even if I'm crouching, stationary, not shooting at all, someone across the map sees me and shoots at me. I'm starting to think it puts an arrow over my head. I like using holo best. A lot of people fall for it.

I used camo for a while in Halo 4 but it seems incredibly weak compared to the Reach version.  Useless radar jamming, and as kitten said dude's across the map can see you and pick you off when you think you're invisible.  Take one step and fireworks and confetti shoot out to designate where you are pretty much.  It's not bad for... well, campaign I guess?  I took it out of all five of my loadouts now because its so bad.  Even when guys are camo'd and sitting completely still, I can see where they are and just run up and shotgun them.  It surprises them because they thought they weren't noticed.  It is probably the AA I am most disappointed in by how far it got nerfed.

On smaller maps I can see camo being less useful, but on bigger maps it causes problems.  Unless the camo guy is  moving at a decent speed, you aren't really going to notice him, and more than likely, if he is camo'd, he isn't moving.  Adding to the problem that it takes at least 3-4 shots to decloak (sometimes you never fully decloak) with the light rifle, you're raining death from afar.

I kept running into these guys using the camo/scatter shot combo crouched and it was damn annoying

Well.. if they are camo'd and you got close enough to be scatter shot, you should have been in range to see the radar freaking out from their camo.  In other words, you'd have known they were there, and based on the now smaller radius of the dots camo creates,  you can just throw grenades to light up their shields, or just not go into point blank range against a guy that is obviously waiting for you to come to him.

If they were sitting there the whole game, cloaked, and nobody on your team went near them, they wouldn't be scoring points.  Which means that your team can focus on the other guys, team shoot, and win easily.

Jumping onto the end of a dudes shotgun is rarely a good plan.  Just sayin

@ Kade logically, I know you're right. But you didn't take the anger factor into account. When someone is being a campy little bitch, I get angry and want to kill them. I can't make myself stay away.

I like promethean vision just for targeting purposes, pretty easy to see the player's definition with that bright red glow.

Here you go.  I used the first map in custom games, crouched with camo and the light rifle and set my camera a similar distance to most larger maps.  How many shots does it take to decloak?  9-10 too many.  It should be like Reach where it's instant de-cloak the minute you shoot.  Honestly, it should be a power-up similar to overshield and damage boost.  But that's just my opinion.

Um, isn't that glowing vapour trail enough if you are looking in the correct direction? If my back was turned to the Camo it wouldn't matter if there was Camo or not. Right now, I frequently don't see my non-Camo shooter until I've been shot 3-4 times or even dead.

This whole Camo issue is not an issue at all, in my opinion. Camo lets you get in those first 3-4 shots because you are normally camping. That means non-movement which should also mean fewer scoring opportunities. Yes, you might live longer but if the whole team is doing that, will their combined score drop? What will the opposing team do? Nothing and keep getting shot or change their tactics?

Everyone will be able to pick Camo. It self balances. If what OMG says is true, then all games will devolve into Camo games. If that happens, 343i will have the supporting data and will likely remove Camo from the playlists. 343i plans to make weekly changes to playlists based on game data.

Just because we don't like dying doesn't mean the game isn't working. I die more statistically than most people reading this. I know a little about the situation and how it feels. If I start dying faster than I can get my wits about me, like during the Reach TU bleed-though days, then you'll hear me complain.

I think we have to let this play out. Battle statistics are our friend.

Yes, and with the light rifle and an accurate shot, means almost instant death.  I don't really have a problem with camo people killing me as they rarely do, but I posted this because I forsee a problem due to not decloaking instantly.  Being able to pick camo with everyone else doesn't equate to self-balance.  You do remember going into games in Reach where everyone chose armor lock right?  There was no self balance there.  I played a btb game last night against a team that ran camo.  Every one of them.  It reminded me of the all-armor lock games in Reach.  Statistics do lie, as you can warp them into how you wish to see them.  And seeing as how 343 dropped the ball on many apsects, I don't have that much faith in them.

I mean maybe you could have just said "Minor glitch doesn't decloak camo'd shooters immediately" rather than saying how this is so overpowered and armor lock esque

I agree with DEEP though, if someone is shooting me, camo'd or not, camping or not, and they get 3 shots in first before i determine where they are, then yeah they have an advantage.  Camo is nerfed to the point of being a terrible AA I no longer pick.  It also doesn't last nearly as long as even title updated reach version.

If you're going to pick something overpowered compared to the rest maybe go with Regen field which allows you to duck in and out of cover while being shot, while gaining a ton of shield back

That's exactly what armor lock deniers said during the first month of Reach's release.  Give it time and the complaints will start rolling in.  Without camo, if someone gets the first few shots on you, you can turn around and nearly instantly see your shooter.  With camo and the slow decloaking, you may need to wait for another shot or two.  And I never chose armor lock in Reach, but that didn't mean it wasn't op'd.

Wait... what is exactly what they said?  I have no idea which part of what I wrote is what armor lock deniers said.

If someone is using autosentry, and it gets the first hit, the enemy will turn towards the drone and perhaps away from the real threat.

If someone is using hologram, they can again turn attention away from themselves and waste enemy ammo, while giving them time to deal damage first.

If someone is using promethean vision, they can get the drop on a sneaking opponent as well.

But yes camo is amazingly overpowered compared to the rest because it lets you do what many of the other AAs do.

That it wasn't overpowered.

Drone isn't that powerful and can't hurt you from afar.

Hologram is noticeable by the way it walks and can help you pinpoint enemies by determining it's origin point.

You get a sound effect and a blip on the radar when someone uses promethean vision.

Try again.

I didn't say drone was a death machine, I said it can cause them to turn to see where the damage came from, away from the real threat of the dude with his gun.

Maybe your whole experience with them not decloaking when shooting, is because of lag.

How could it be lag when the custom game only involved me on a map by myself with no connection to the outside world?  Hmm...

Hitman was the guy that was cloaked during the LAN and I didn't see many shenanigans, honestly.  It's a bit early to compare it to Armor Lock, though.  I haven't run into it much.
