I'll take a pass, it's the same game i already played back on the original xbox just high-def'd. I really feel like since some of bethesda's other games didn't do so well this year, they just searched around for something they could produce cheaply and make a nice profit on to make up for sales shortfalls and they thought re-skinning doom and throwing in a couple extra levels would be that game. I guess on the plus side, it's only 40 bucks, they're not trying to shove it out the door at 60 bucks.
I don't know about co-op. I read the Xbox version is $29.99 and the PS3 version is $39.99. I guess because the original was for Xbox and its easier to translate to the 360 rather than the conversion to the Playstation. That's purely my speculation.
Despite how good it feels to blow an imp into pieces with a shotgun, I found Doom 3 to be pretty boring and could never manage to play more than a few hours before giving up on it. Dumb monster AI and trying to scare you with demons suddenly and conveniently appearing behind you the second you pick up that cache of health, armor and new weapon for the 50th time gets kinda old.
My copy is in the mail. To play Doom on a 55" LED 240ghz tele with a 1000 watt surroud sound is a blessing, on e that I am seriously thankful for. Thankfully I own the Turtle Beach XP500 headphones and will use 'em so my roomies will have no grips.
I intend on playing this only at night, with the lights and telephone off.
I played maybe a couple hours yesterday. Probably rental or budget bin purchase would the better idea unless you want the nostalgia of Doom in your console collection. Maybe the game picks up a bit. Played up through Alpha Labs about to go out some big bulkhead door. Off to put some more time into it.

Absolutley looking forward to this!
The original Doom3 + the expansion pack, 60 frames per second, beefed up graphics, all the oldschool DOOM games (got those on XBL already though.)
Does anyone know for certain if they included 2-player online coop?
this should come with/include the co-op.

Just picked this up. I'll let you guys know what I think. I probably won't get a chance to play until later.
So how is it so far?

This. The removal of co-op hurts this release, for me. Plus, I already own DOOM and DOOM2 on XBLA.
I like DOOM, know that this is a dark monster closet game, and will enjoy it for that.
When I see this for $10 online, I'll pick it up.
I agree. Played a second time and it's boring. Maybe I'll comeback to it here and there but I have a pile of games I haven't played yet.
The Lost Missions - It's a much better game when you get to them. A sleeper until then.
I've changed my mind about this game. Once it gets rolling, not so bad.
I guess i'm the only one that loves this. The grfx upgrade alone makes it worth the $. to me at least.
