Xbox World reveals what it knows about xbox 720
Xbox World has used its penultimate issue to publish an 8-page feature containing "everything we know" about Microsoft's next-gen console plans.
The mag has good form when it comes to next-gen Xbox leaks, having revealed in January Microsoft's plans for augmented reality, directional sound, and a four-player, finger-tracking Kinect, all of which were later confirmed in the now infamous leaked planning document in June.
Editor in chief Dan Dawkins told CVG: "Xbox World has been at the cutting edge of Durango coverage for over 12 months. Unless something really dramatic changes, everything we reveal in our penultimate issue will be revealed long before E3 in June."
According to the mag's final 'exposé', the next-gen Xbox - which it speculates is likely to be called simply "Xbox" - will introduce Kinect 2.0, use Blu-ray discs and feature directional audio, a TV output AND input, 'innovative controller' and - at a later stage of the console's life - AR glasses.
Current codename 'Durango' dev kits boast a CPU with "four hardware cores, each divided into four logical cores" and an impressive 8GB of RAM, XBW reports.

Xbox World has used the Microsoft leaks and industry sources to come up with a 3D mock-up of what it expects the next-gen Xbox to look like.
"We built ours with the same glossy face and patented VapourMG magnesium alloy Microsoft uses for its Surface tablet, and modelled the silver band after its new 'Wedge' touch keyboard and flexible Arc Touch mouse," it writes. "The future will be black, sharp and curved."

saw this. stoked.
I'm a little surprised with the BluRay. I was hoping for some type of solid state media like maybe SD cards. On the other hand, being able to use it to play blurays will be a nice extra for the odd occasion I want to play disc media. Drive failures have killed two of my systems though which is why I'd rather have solid state media.
The info may be legit. But the pic isn't. That looks exactly like one of the 360 design ideas that were scrapped.
The 360 slim looks better than this. I agree 100% with Tank about solid state drives, they are the way to go.
But the most important thing to me is the Controller. 360 has the best controller to me in any gaming system. If they mess this it up, it will be a deal killer for me.
Agreed. The current controler is nice. When my arthritis begins to hurt bad I can still usually play a easy paced game. I would need to see and maybe even handle another controler these days to see if it is easy enough to use. The current controller is quite possible the biggest issue why I have not gone back to KB and Mouse. It just plain hurts my hands...
I dunno, the picture looks like it could be legit to me. It looks less fancy and more classy, it looks like a media streaming TV tuner device like appleTV and the many other similar devices. Microsoft has drifted focus of just making a game console to making an all in one device to hook up to your TV. And i think the design pictured reflects that philosophy change.
that's what i would like, but i doubt mine will make it until then.
I'm beginning to have doubts about mine. I've opened it and cleaned it once already, and my Horizon disc is getting a bit difficult to boot up, although my FM4 disc is just fine.. bought my box when the Halo/Fm3 disc was included...
Yea, I hope mine will make it too. I got an old "Arcade" one. The thing got rrod the other day. I banged on it some and it seemed to work fine after. I dunno what the heck happened.
Just punch or kick it and it works!
Works on a lot of things even the wife!
Don't know about you Church, but my wife's a former kick boxer. I try to stay on her good side, failing that, her blind side...
Ya it would suck to have your xbox die at this point. They want 100 bucks plus shipping to fix those damn things.
They told me this crap when mine red ringed. I found a local guy to do it for $50. Plus he added a better fan used better solder than micro$oft. Only down side is my xbox sounds like the space shuttle taking off.
Although if MS fixed it it could sound like this:

What the hell ! Fixed by MS ?!?!
I'm looking forward to this. If it does have a BlueRay player, I'll be looking at picking it up shortly after launch date. I still need to get one. If it doesn't, then I'll probalby just wait for the first price drop like I did with the 360.
