Huh?!?
Huh?!?
Yeah so, I just jumped into this Minecraft thing. I spent like an hour just digging a tunel, and I enjoyed it. Anyway, some questions from a complete Minecraft newb with a very little idea of whats going on...
1) It seems like the first time I encounter a new block, I'm given some info on it. Anyway to get that to pop back up, or to get a display of what the block I'm looking at is made of?
2) I thought I got an indication that something was iron ore, but when I mine it, I don't seem to get any new inventory?
3) I'm down to half a heart becuase I've got no food. My immediate world is a few islands and ALOT of water (when I spawned I was drowning). I don't see any wheat or animals or anything. If I'm lucky I get some rotten meat overnight for sustainment. What am I supposed to be doing for food?
4) See question 3), where are lambs and stuff to make wool?
5) Did I just get a crappy seed and spawn FAR FAR away some random direction from the mainland? I made a new world but it was about the same.
Clue me in guys, I was having a blast just working on my tower and tunnel, but now it kindof sucks becuase I know I'm gonna die at any second from a fall.
Wrong tools will destroy blocks instead of mine resources as well as damage the tools faster.
PC or Xbox?
On a PC you can use wood/sticks and spider web I think to make a fishing pole, and with all that water, you're good to go for food.
1) Dunno
2) You have to use at least a stone pickaxe to mine iron ores, wooden ones will only destroy it
3) Like oldschoolsmart said, if you are lucky enough to have some spiders wandering around, you can obtain strings from them to create a fishing pole. Or you could build a boat and go hunting elsewhere. You can also get apples from cutting down common trees.
4) sheeps spawn everywhere (including inside caves and in the middle of water...) but they are way more common in plains biome
5) Every world I did had a variety of areas (desert, ocean, forest, hills, plains, etc), I assume you have tried to navigate to the mainland already, for how long?
Try going around punching tall grass for seeds and then till some soil next to a water supply with a hoe and plant your seeds. It will grow into wheat so you can make some bread. 3 wheat = 1 loaf.
send a friend request to Time4abeverage... its a 2o2p server... may take a couple of days to to get you added.
Done, thanks!
Thank you everyone for the input, glad to know I dont' have to give up becuase of hunger. I'm going to build a fishing grotto and hydroponic nursery in the bottom of the island below my fort. Way to excitied about this....
I'll build that boat and do some real exploring later.
Send me a FR if you want. Play a lot of minecraft these days
Your best bet is to first play the entire tutorial then explore a little bit. Next, play peaceful so you don't have to worry about monsters and hunger. After playing on peaceful for an hour or so you should be more than ready to bump up the difficulty.
Yeah, I had to quit my world. I built up a supply of bread and baked fish and went sailing. My world was water logged, realy only about a dozen small islands. No animals at all, except squid? It was much smaller than expected, either due to the ease of transportation, mostly water, or the block count was skewed by all the water? Anyway, I started a new random seed and it is great, lots to do. Thanks for the advice folks.
Yea thats how my first world was. Took me a few tries to get one that i liked. I finally got my first rail system done, and got the achievement for it. Love the game
