For me, ME3 and BL2.
Me3 or Dragons dogma.
Despite ME3's horrible ending, the whole game I played up to it was phenominal. I was Shepard and I kicked ass.
DD was just enough Skyrim to satiate the looter and adventurer in me and just enough arcade to keep the attention of the ADD in me.
A fun story and a excellent set up with the pawn system and a balanced party. I had loads of fun and look forward to playing more of it soon. It was a real nice change from what I usually expect from and RPG.
The ending was what it was for ME3. However, the multiplayer captured a long since gone "pick up and play/couch multiplayer" magic and that was very refreshing. It evened out a playing field in an age of duping, gear modding and leveling exploits. That multiplayer model alone is the only reason I would consider it for a top spot.
I enjoyed Kingdoms of Amalur, Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2, XCOM and Torchlight 2. I haven't gotten to Dragon's Dogma yet.
Picking a favorite amongst them will be hard.
As far as REALLY looking forward to getting back into the game I was playing, I would have to give the nod to Kingdoms of Amalur and Mass Effect.
I am truly sorry that Schilling's group folded as I wanted to see where they went with a second iteration of that game. It started to drag a bit ~60+ hours in, but I was stil interested to read some of the lore, even that late in the game.
Mass Effect ended the story arc, in a way the development team chose. I don't necessarily like it, but can see how they wanted to finalize things. Everything leading up to it was like finding an unopened letter from an old friend and reading it with fresh eyes as the characters from past games returned and interacted with you.
I would have to go with Borderlands 2 or Witcher 2. haven't played a lot of the others. ME doesn't really do much for me as I'm more into fantasy RPG's than Sci-Fi. I played the first two, but never truly dug them.
Kingdoms of Armalur was pretty good too, but kinda dragged out towards the end.
I will say Dragons Dogma and Torchlight 2
I'll cast my vote for Xenoblade Chronicles
I can honestly say I havent played one game on that list
Witcher 2 or Xenoblade Chronicles.
What about Persona 4 Golden? It's a re-release I know, so I wasn't sure if it counted. If it counts that's my vote!
Otherwise... I'll have to go with The Last Story
KoA reckoning is BA imo...like fable kinda but not shitty.
He speaks the truth!
Yeah, the game was really for a first entry, too bad there probably won't be a sequel :( Last I read, the state of Rhode Island owns KoA, so I'm not sure if that includes sequels or not.
