Going to sit on the shelf for me until Nintendo ramps up the 1st party efforts. Give me my Galaxies, Metroids, Mario Carts and Zeldas then I'll purchase it.

You'll be waiting a long time my friend till all those are out

Yea I know but I'm leary of launch consoles after what I dealt with on my 360 and PS3. Bad hardware, software features that were not ready for prime time at launch, and no killer app games until a couple years into it's life. Have made me less inclined to fall into the early adopter trap. Don't get me wrong though I will buy one it's just a matter of when Nintendo releases the games that I want to play. For right now my Wii is fine for the little ones in the house and my PC has become my main gaming platform for the forseeable future.
i preordered one. One of the downsides (upsides?) to my job is having to own pretty much every system to be able to inform my customers of what theyre getting.
Sounds like an upside to me! But I'm leary of the WiiU because I'm not sure I want to pay the original 360 and PS3 prices for a console that has the horsepower of a console that is ten years old. The only advance is in the control scheme. And while I know they will do amazing things with it in gameplay it just seems like it's not a significant enough jump for the price.

Pikmin 3 is enough for them to take my money. I love that series and was really hoping we'd get a new one on the Wii. Lego City Undercover looks pretty fun, too.
I didn't pre-order it. I didn't pre-order the Wii either. I froze my ass off outside of Best Buy one Sunday morning when the received a shipment. I'll probably wait until after the holidays to get one. (I say that now....)
boo! - I havent' got fair value from my Wii yet so I'm not about to throw more money at Nintendo for some new over-priced gimmick. I'll get the under-priced gimmick when Ouya comes out instead .
We all know the hardware is not going to be comparable to what MS and Sony have coming down the pipe. For me that's wasn't a issue with the Wii nor will it be a issue with the Wii U. Price isn't a factor either. 3 bills is pretty standard for a HD console and with the tablet included it's warranted. I simply do not purchase Nintendo systems to play anything other then Nintendo made games. Now there have been a few third party efforts on the Wii that were damn good, (Xenoblade Chronicles and Last Story come to mind) but over all you have to be a fan of Nintendo's core franchises to make this purchase worthwhile.

I've got a white and a black edition pre-ordered at Gamestop. Still trying to decide which one I want to keep and which to sell. I am a sucker for new consoles. The thought of being able to play a full game on the pad controller while sitting on the couch with my wife watching tv was too much for me to pass up.
I'm not saying the product is bad. I am just confused as to Nintendo's strategy. The console is not that big of a leap. It brings new gameplay possibilites, yes, but looking at the launch line up unless you were a Nintendo guy to begin with, I don't see them gaining a bigger fanbase.
I've got a lot of games to catch up on the PS3, Wii and Xbox, but I'll snag a Wii U at a later date, or when the game I want comes to the U.
Now, if you'll excuse me, warping is what I do . . .
You don't want Super Mario Bros. U????? Same Mario game since 64.
Fixed
Sounds like an uninformed statement. U is the spiritual successor to Mario 3. Borrows a lot of enemies we've haven't seen since the 3 era and even Mario World.

Nintendo desperately needs a fresh approach for Mario. We’ve been down the same warp pipe so many times with what’s now a very stagnant – albeit ambitious – retread. Yes, Nintendo has perfected tight gameplay and added a few surprises in every one of their Mario titles, but it’s time to give Mario a fresh new reason to pull on his famous blue overalls and save the Princess.
I haven’t given up hope, so I haven’t returned my Wii U Christmas present. I might wait to see what other Wii U titles Nintendo brings forth. More gigs and a second solid title would clinch the deal. For now, I’m sating my platforming needs with Super Meat Boy. Meaty’s controls are extremely responsive, and I like having to think on the fly - jump jump jump run zoooom.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, it's a warp pipe dilemma.
I broke down and purchased one for the kids. New Super Mario Bros U is really fun but I do wish they would have came with a 3D mario or something instead. Here's hoping Nintendo doesn't make fans wait for the games that they know people like me purchased the system for......
Biz and I are in the 2o2r irc channel watching the presentation. Looks good so far.
Nintendo TVii looks interesting....but it looks to be Tivo-only.
That makes it as relevant as.....well.....TiVo

And technically it has double (quadruple if you count the processing ram) of those old consoles

Sorry for double post.
I agree with all 3 of your posts :D

^^ well then it is online experience as well as games (for me at least) and the Wii online was / is the most garbage experience going.

They aren't
This is pitched to more "hardcore" console owner, and while sold like crazy and made them money, their portables are where the action is.

LOL, I beg to differ.![smiley smiley](http://www.2old2play.com/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/regular_smile.gif)
I think it's pretty tough and actually challenging. It's a nice change of pace for a Mario game.

My wife gave me "Tank! Tank! Tank!" for the WiiU as a Christmas gift and it's a lot of fun.
Pretty basic game -- shoot everthing that moves and don't die.![smiley smiley](http://www.2old2play.com/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/regular_smile.gif)
Oh fiddley dee, I kept the darn Wii U!
