Driving Aids ?

I wonder if driving aids is banned in all leagues at 2old4forza?

I have come to realize that I can not keep up at all without some help :)

Or is there a league for slow drivers like me also.

Z..Don't worry about driving aids. When I first started I used almost everyone of them. Then little by little through word of mouth and first hand experience I realized that I could drive better and quicker without them. The Super Fast cars I still use traction control but everything else no. Take your time and find out what works for you at your own pace. The guys here are Fantastic. They will go out of their way to help teach you the skill to be a better driver and racer. If they are banned anywhere then find a race that they do not. You can meet up with us on Tuesday on the Toyota Yaris series. Kraigger makes it Fun and Fair! You won't receive a handicap but others that are faster will...A Good Time..Good Guys!...Also I hope you have a BS Tolerance...We Have Plenty!!laughlaughlaugh

Nearing three year mark and other than the extremely rare (and years ago) "forced cockpit" view for some older cars I don't recall ever having assists restrictions in any 2OF4 event or series.

I use (and like) cockpit view, but need at least stability controll to not dance around the track laugh

Yeah, we never restrict what driving aids you use. That's completely up to you. the way I look at it ...Whatever helps keep you from mistakenly mowing me down on the track is a good thing.

Although I would like to suggest that you should never use the stability management. It really slows you down & also kills most of your feel for a cars balance. Just my two cents.

As wheels mentioned, with set time & more experince, you will be able to ween yourself of the driving aids as your skill & comfort level increases.

Cotter is right about stability. Say you have a car that understeers like crazy already without it, stability will make that car straight line. Sometimes being a little loose in the rear is a good thing. It's up to you to control it. If you use anything, I'd say Traction control, though understeer with Traction control is a major issue as well. But it's much better than Stability. I personally don't use any assists even with high HP cars. It's all about throttle control. I just did a race with a 900+ hp Top Secret Supra in S class (downgraded) on Indy. OMG is that car a monster without Traction control or Stability, but it will teach you throttle control real quick. If you give that car too much gas in the first 3-4 gears, well, kiss your back end (of the car) goodbye.  In a nut shell, practice makes perfect. Grab some higher hp RWD cars and practice throttle control without assists. It's amazing how much faster you actually will be, unless you make a mistake. Give a little to take a little I guess.

Stability is a big no no, it is very intrusive.  The same can be achieved with use of abs and traction control.  If you are suffering mid corner then it's definitely a technique problem, more specifically you are probably changing te commitment through the turn.  Hit up a race school session, we can teach with driving aids :)

Yes, the guys in 2Old4Forza are fast, really fast.  I have been around here for two years and I still get worked by the majority of drivers.  Part of that is we have a lot of fast guys who focus almost exclusively on Forza, with hundreds if not thousands of hours of seat time.  Part of it is my lack of time with Forza.  To give you some perspective, my main sim these days is iRacing, where I have won four races and have dozens and dozens of top 5 finishes.  On the other hand, I never win or even finish in the top 5 in 2Old4Forza races.  The guys here are just too fast and too familiar with Forza physics and tracks.  That being said, its still fun to race with 2Old4Forza guys.  There are also some series that are specifically gauged to help out us slower guys, such as the Playboy Cup races on Sunday afternoons, where we handicap the fast guys.  They still kick my ass, but at least they are forced to do it more slowly.  wink

Use the driving aids that you feel comfortable with.  Wheels gave you the right advice, eventually you won't need any of them, except maybe TCS in the S class and up cars.

Hi Zoso,  I sent you a friend request through XBox, my name is countach711.  If you'd like we could race some together as I am pretty slow too.  I am in mountain time and can race in the evening, say 7 to 10-ish.  Let me know if you find any slow dog leagues.

Guys, also look for random pick up rooms. OR simply open a private lobby yourself if you see some people doing season events, rivals etc and shoot em an invite.

I run rooms like this once or twice a week, we pick random tracks, and cars and away we go (usually A class and under). It's good track time and a good way to get to know others you might not run with otherwise.

Also a great place to pick up pointers, tunes, paints, sometimes even cars.

This is the best thing to do.

Just jump in a room or make a room and invite people will join.

Check out this thread.

Most of all, don't be afraid to jump in and run with anyone. Faster guys will make you faster, and by being in lobbies with them you will always pick up something to make you faster.
